Oil filter

Does anyone knows if these oil filters are real or fake?

Look genuine to me. What has you thinking they might not be real?

Mann is an OE supplier to BMW. It's not surprising to see their name on the filter.

The part numbers are different on the boxes if you look at them carefully. The QR code on the boxes look different. The brand logos on the boxes look different. The wording prints on the filters are different.

The part number thing is really odd. Which is the real part number? If one is a fake, I'm guessing the left (bottom) one.

953 appears to be the real number. So I guessed wrong.

What I have sitting on the shelf
BMW filter purchased from FCPEuro - filter exactly matches the top one but p/n on box = 11427 953 129
Mann filter, also purchased from FCPEuro - filter mostly same as lower one, except for lack of BMW logo and p/n

I noticed that too but they appear genuine, and like the others mentioned MANN is OE, or in other words, genuine. I did noticed after a quick DuckDuckGo search, 953 pulls up a lot more results than the 593 one. Why that is, idk. Where did you purchase them from?

I purchased both of them from Amazon. Could they be both fake?

+2. If it was Amazon, then yeah I would suspect possible fake. I can't put much trust into Amazon but that's just me

I've seen the same on Amazon. They are probably real, but it's easy enough to fake those things and happens so often I decided not to trust them. I buy from the Mann vendor directly for barely an more money and then feel 100% sure they are real.

The problem with the counterfeit ones is they don't filter very well and allow lager particles through, sure better than no filter, but not even close to meeting the filter specs of a legitimate one.
