I assume he is talking about a remote car starter. I have looked around myself as I have one in my other vehicle. I have not been able to find one that supports the newer BMW's. It seems that it is to difficult to get them working because of the security system that BMW's use.

I've tried that brand, but can't recommend it.
When "The Wife" starts the X3, she drives away in it.

The Autoloc Company CLAIMS to have a remote starter system that will work with the X3 (F25) vehicles and their keyless-start, remote locking and security systems. It requires extensive add-on connections, and, I suspect if installed, would be the first thing a dealer would use as an excuse to deny warranty service if the vehicle had any problems with those systems.

I am not a fan of automatic starters, and I would never put one on a BMW. Too many potential warranty-voiding problems IMO.

My garage works fine for when I head out to work in the morning, but my car sits outside for 9 hours while I'm at work. This is when the remote starter is nice. The park heaters that they use in Europe would be even better in my opinion but I haven't seen anywhere in the US that installs those.

I just hop in my car after work and turn on the seat heaters to full, followed shortly by the heated steering wheel. My car usually drops from warm-up rpms to idle within a minute, so I'm warm by the time my car is.

It was below freezing tonight and with the heated seats and steering wheel I was warm pretty quickly.
