THAT is why the employer has to provide the gloves, to keep the employee safe. If the gloves don't DO anything (get it?) why are they wearing them???

It's freaking disgusting, especially in the workplace since you will be touching stuff that others touch.

A story: went to a company picnic some years ago (I had left but still kept in touch with some folks there). Went to restroom to use the urinal. Director of engineering came in and used the one next to me. He said hi and I said hello back. When done I went to wash my hands. Was about to walk out when he was just about finished and walked out too. We walked back to the picnic, chitchatted for a minute or two and then he said "well it was nice seeing you again" and reached out his hand for me to shake. I was disgusted but shook it anyway and went straight to the restroom to wash my hands.

This is why it bugs me when cashiers lick their fingers to open the plastic bags for your stuff.

Also, why do cashiers have to grab the spout of your drink bottle? Pick it up by the neck.

The moral of the story is this:

People are gross. Other people are overly hygienic and probably get sick all the time because they over sanitize their hands and don't put their immune systems to the test enough.

I'm somewhere in between, and I travel on long haul international flights for a living. I wash my hands, but not EVERY time. I don't get sick. Dirty ass travelers around me cough, loogie, and sputter all the time. . . In these situations I will wash my hands 2x at my next possible chance, but it doesn't mean I haven't already been exposed to the H7N455 that the dirty bastards around me have already been carrying.

Don't be dirty bastard, but also don't create the AB resistant super bug that destroys humanity.

Hand sanitizer is the devil. Stick to soap

What about when people go out to eat when you have to use your hands. Pizza, sandwiches, chicken, etc. I always wash my hands after I eat. Yet I rarely see people do this. This means all the nasty oil, sauce and other sh*t is being transfered to door handles, their belongings, etc. I have to say with 100% certainty that all the stuff I have still looks new even after 15 years is not only from taking care, but because I wash my hands after I eat. People bitch about fingerprints on phones? I never have fingerprints on my phone. Wash your hands! None of my stuff has any oily feeling to it. I've had coworkers borrow my pens then when I get it back I have to clean with rubbing alcohol because of the oily residue they leave behind. Freakin disgusting.

That's whey whenever I shake someone's hand I go wash my hands ASAP.

You should see some of the phones and keyboards at my work. You'll throw up. People take a dump and just wet their hands and leave. Wow.

I'm OCD so I'm always clean/washing my hands.

THIS.

I was using the urinal the other day at work. There are two at each bathroom at work, I was occupying one and another Engineer came in and occupied the second one. I wrapped up and went on to wash my hands. As I finished the other guy had come up to the sink next to mine and instead of washing his hands... he pulls out a f***ing tooth brush and starts brushing his teeth. AM I OVER REACTING?

I work in a super clean building and I almost never see anyone not wash their hands w/ soap and water. HOWEVER yesterday was one of the few very disgusting exceptions.

Same here. I'll even resort to using my foot or knee to open the door if the paper towel dispenser is empty (even if it has a lever handle).

I'm no germaphobe but most folks are seemingly unaware of the micronized particles that spray out when toilets and urinals flush.

I've seen a couple of people at work go to the sink after pissing or sh*ting, run their hands under water for a second or two, then collect water in their hands, put it in their mouth, swish the water, and spit it out. I am mortified every time.

And you guys eat fast food? Have you seen some of the people who work at fast foot places? Do you really think the guy putting the tomato on your burger washed his hands after his last bathroom break? Speaking of ass to mouth. There you go.

I've noticed some interesting bathroom behavior a couple times this year, guess it never stuck out to me until I saw someone I know do it at dinner. Went to the restroom, he used a stall instead of one of the many open urinals and then left without washing his hands. Now I've noticed a couple people at my work do the exact same thing. I never see people at work fail to wash their hands except for a couple of these stall users, and they are all BMW drivers who take way too much pride in their appearance, the kind of guy who dresses business casual to a BBQ in 95 degree weather.

Lowe's has a cool piece of metal on the door which you can use your forearm to open the door. But knowing that there are morons will not wash their hands and grab that thing to open the door.

Not sure, imho it seems to be the 60+crowd who does not, and also maybe a certain ethnicity. It seems like 20 somethings overdo it, wear surgical masks into the bathroom and such. But seriously, refuse to touch a door knob without a paper towel. Imho it's ok to touch door knobs, just don't put your fingers in your mouth.

I'm with you. Always wash my hands and even around my mouth after I eat so I can feel clean. It blows me away how we are in the minority on this.

Your parents taught you to wash your hands after you go to the bathroom.

My parents taught me not to piss on my hands in the first place.
