Dealer messed up

Hi guys,
I ordered the X3 with Black Sapphire exterior and Black leather with Fineline Wave Wood Trim, the dealer messed up and entered it as Brushed Aluminum Trim .
The car went to Start Production status today and he is saying it cannot be changed.

What should I do? what options do I have now?

Also, does someone here have the "Brushed Aluminum Trim"? How does it look?

Thanks in advance.

I have the brushed aluminum with black leather and it looks fantastic. Personally, I didn't care for the fineline with the black. If you can live with the change....make sure you act like you hate it even though I know you'll like it. You should definitely bargain for a better price, accessories, or something.

Trim colors are purely a matter of taste. Some like the metallic look, some like wood.
I personally like the wood.

I would insist that they change out the trim to what you ordered. The service department is quite capable of doing that.

I have always had Black with Aluminum and I really like it. I think it looks sportier.

Once the car is in production there are no changes....

My dealer gave me the vehicle inquiry report to sign off on. This was their print out of the order... Did you get anything like that.

If the dealer is truly at fault I suppose you have a few options...

Negotiate for some free accesories or reorder if it is that important.

I know once it enters production it will not change...

Thanks utcadman, I wanted the interior all dark to match with the Black leather.

No, I did not get a copy of the order, I will try to negotiate on the price or accessories, since I don't want to reorder again and wait for another month or so.

Thanks Harplayr, I didn;t know the service can do that.
I will try to talk when I go pick up my car or even before that.

Get them to change the trim, it should be no problem for the dealer to order dark wave wood kit and retro-fit

There were some comments regarding a similar situation a ways back, and I believe the dealer did change it out. My understanding is that the change is relatively easy except for the trim on the door which has to be unscrewed from the inside of the door.

That is something I wouldn’t tackle myself, but a good BMW mechanic should be able to take the door apart, swap the part and put everything back together in his sleep.

The good thing is you’ll be able to see it with the metallic trim and decide which looks better to you.

3 months and not even in production seems awfully long Periwinkle, did the dealerships not have allocations?
