Instrument panel light control through switch mod - - - failure!!

User "lbjgh" was kind enough to send me his old headlight switch after he did an upgrade which included rear fog lights.

My goal was to find a way that the switch might be modified to allow the instrument panel lights to be on even when the headlights were off in the automatic mode setting.

I'm enclosing some internal photographs and description of the various contact points that I found in this analysis. Unfortunately, I'm pretty certain that control of the instrument panel lights is done by the computer and cannot be overruled by modification within this switch. If anyone find something different, please let me know.

Ahhhhh me peepers! Make it go away. Noooooo. Please don't tell me our fancy schmancy cars use old fashioned wiper switches. Why? There are like four or five modes that should be computer controlled by a single position. Where we headed with that wiper switch, 1972?
