Has anyone upgraded their Combox on 2013 and older?

I'm getting price quotes around $1200 from the local BMW dealer to upgrade it from the 3G combox to the 4G combox.

Is there a cheaper solution? I would love to have all those connected features working but not for $1200.

This was offered as a free upgrade a few months back, depending on what options you had and whether you were still inside your subscription period. Don't know if you qualify. Good luck!

I have all the correct options but I don't qualify I didn't have an active subscription during the cut off.

I'm new here ( and to cars in general) to what are you referring when you say "combox". From what I understand some vehicle don't have them. Is that right? How do i know if mine does?
