X3 owners experience with stroller in trunk
Hello everyone, I am looking at the X3 for my wife (in addition to the Q5 and MDX) and she was wondering how well a stroller fit in the trunk. We don't have a stroller yet to try out on test drives (the kid hasn't shipped yet) and I was wondering if anybody here could share their experience.
My main concern would be fitting the stroller without putting the backseat down and how much room if any would be leftover. If anyone has any pictures with one in the trunk that would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

X3 really doesn't have a "trunk" per say - there is a luggage area behind the rear seats...

depends on the stroller you use OP, but we tend to use the little mcclarren stroller. pretty compact but our kid is 3 years old. i also do a lot of running with her and pack in one of those bigger jogging strollers, and still have enough room to hit up the grocery store after and do a good 2 weeks worth of shopping. so i think if your concers are do you have enough space, i would say yes. tons of space. hope this sort of helps. i dont got pics since im deployed at the moment. GL and congrats on the little one.

I have a Britax B-Ready. It fits within the floor surface of the cargo area. There's room for a few bags of groceries and a couple of bags of toilet paper if you don't mind stacking them over the stroller.
The Q5 has significantly less space. You will not be able to close the tonneau cover with a large stroller. edit: attachment Last edited by pokerface; 01-28-2014 at 12:13 PM.. Reason: attachment |

I have an uppa baby vista, fairly large stroller. No problems fitting that and plenty of other stuff in the trunk. A far upgrade over my 328 lol

I am able to fit a double in the back. Its a little tight but it fits.
Also fit a jeep universal stroller with no problem. I cant fit them at the same time but there is plenty of room for a stroller, baby bag and if you pack wisely 1 or 2 small luggage.

We have a Britax B-Agile stroller, and have no problems. It folds in half, and only takes up half of the rear cargo area. We use the other side of the cargo area for groceries, etc. No problems at all with strollers.

On a side note, wife and I were looking at a Tiguan and I told the sales person if we can fit our Graco stroller in the back id buy the car. It wouldnt fit, he offered to fold 1/2 the seats down but I didn't want to own a 3 seater.

I too had an uppa baby stroller in the cargo area. It did fit but was alittle tight. After a few bags of groceries it's already full. With my first kid it was so hard to imagine the strollers taking up so much space! Lol. If u need more space I would say get the MDX for around the same price depending on the model.

Hope this helps. I have a Britax B-Agile stroller that folds in half. Plenty of room since it only takes up half the space.

Seems like you got the info you needed, which is great. My kids are older (youngest is now 6), but I think even a decent sized stroller would fit in the back.
Mostly, I just wanted to say, after three kids and probably three times that many strollers, that I highly recommend getting one of those strollers that you clip the car seat into (like the Jeep one in the pictures above) and wait to get a regular stroller until a little later, like when the baby is 6 months+. Then, get something small and light - Maclaren, Uppa Baby G-Lite or something like that. As light as possible. Even a pound makes a difference. Unless you're jogging or walking with the stroller and getting something specific for that (in which case, it wouldn't be in the back of the car, being carried around, folded, etc.), those giant strollers only ever get used for a month or two. They're just too big and heavy to handle and hard to maneuver in stores, etc. Anyway, just my two cents! Good luck with both of your new arrivals! |

This thread is quite old, but the X3 has a small cargo area compared to the other cars in its class. We have a second child coming and bought a Bob double stroller. The only way it fits is we have to take a wheel off, which is not very convenient for my wife.
We are probably going to get another vehicle soon for her/us. Unfortunately, while moving to the X5 we would have more room its cargo area is not large compared to other vehicles in its class.

Someone above me obviously deleted their comment because I did not look for this post, I was simply adding more visibility to the original question.

X3s are good for kids as long as you only need one full sized stroller at a time. As soon as you need a double stroller, you need a bigger cargo area. This is true for any suv in the same class as the F25 X3.
