I've noticed some people to flush with their shoes. These shoes walked the bathroom floor. Some of the non-washers use their hand to flush and proceed to touch the door handle upon exit. That means there's bathroom floor residue on the door handle. That goes for many common surfaces we encounter, e.g., elevator call buttons, light switches, etc. Think about the janitorial crew that make rounds.

It's good practice to wash hands before touching your face or eating to limit exposure to some nastiness. Cell phones pick up a lot of germs daily so it's good to disinfect that as well.

I don't touch anything in public bathrooms. There are some filthy mcnasties that I wouldn't even want to stand near let alone touch the same door knob.

Not for anything but you'd be a fool NOT to use your foot to flush. Think about all of the splash from standers and airborne micro-logs from sitters that land on that handle? I'm just thrilled my office has motion activated flushing.

Motion activated flush urinals are cool but the toilets are the dumbest thing in the world. Lean over to wipe and it flushes turning it into a geyser of do not want.

I've definitely walked in to find someone's logjam in there and triggered the flush. It's scary to see that water rise and rise.

We're in Manhattan where they are all eco-friend super-low-flow. No geyser here...

Are you talking back blast? I just use toilet paper to flush.

My building has these auto-flushers. Post-it notes are good at blocking the sensor.

Lucky. We're super eco-friendly here but we have those low gallon per flush super high pressure ones that covers everything in a 3 foot radius with a fine mist of toilet.

I always wash my hands after going to the bathroom, but I really think there's a sensible limit on the amount of preventative measures. You touch nearly ANY surface in a public place, and you're going to have people who cough, sneeze, pick up dog shit, lick, vomit, clean using harsh chemicals, etc with their hands who have touched that. I try to be clean, but at the end of the day, it is what it is. I just don't really think about it - that's what you have an immune system for. No need to be afraid of the world.

I pee on my hands so I don't have to wash after. I've heard pee is sterile so it's like using hand sanitizer.

Exactly no bacteria unless uti. I barely shower. Get over it. Don't see nothing wrong with a sandwich while down loading a brown load.

So do you get girls to rinse their mouth out with Clorox before they give you a hummer ? Because ones mouth has more bacteria and germs than any toilet seat...

You can add keyboard on there as well...

That's nothing... at my workplace, I will go into a toilet that has not been flushed and is filled with a combo of urine and shit... and guess what?... no toilet paper to be found anywhere in the toilet or around...
