I had placed my order in March, and heard some speculation on this forum that Msports and metallic colors were delayed until May. This may be common knowledge, but I was able to confirm this through the "genius" call center. Apparently, they wanted to build up inventory of more base models.

Great info, thanks! Did they give any indication when in May? I wish BMWUSA would at least update the configurator so we could see color options, etc.

I was initially told my build date was the first week in May. When I called and got this info, he said it would be the second week of May (starting with May 5th). Well, we will see if I hear anything tomorrow...

I agree. I guess they didn't want too many people ordering M-sports that they weren't making? Who knows. It makes sense to have it up so people with interest and little car knowledge don't think the car only has 4 colors, especially since you can order all the colors at the dealership.

When you go to bmw.com it asks for your location and transfers you to the bmwusa.com site that does not allow you to build a m-sport.

true, but you can still build one and shows color ,wheels etc

Just an update from my dealer, apparently there is a delay in the new front bumper of the M-sport, which is causing the hold-up. Kind of ironic given that so many people hate the new front end and it is causing this trouble. Anyways, according to them, they order the pieces for each car individually when one is purchased and do not carry them at the factory.

if this is true then this would effect the whole east coast, those ordering msport package.

i havent heard anything from my dealership for 2 days since last conversation was a bit tense because wrong info provided by him.
