Not sure if this is the most current- since it still has an option for the back-up camera- even though it is a 2018 model.
I thought it had to be standard on all 2018s?

Correct it's listed as standard option.

Is it me or does this show all possible option codes for all markets ? Because some of the option packages show rear view camera , and it also seems like there are variants that may apply to different markets like

The US has a new law that is in effect.

Rear camera must be standard moving forward. Bless BMW's little heart they must conform to compliance.

Not sure if you have seen this sample of it.

I saw the sample but it's tough to tell how it will actually look full size.

Really considering this car. Looks like all I need is the blue paint, premium, HK Sound, and 20". Everything else is for the handicapped or clueless drivers.

How come BMW doesn't offer ventilated seats with all interior leather colors?

The new SQ5 apparently addresses the technology and space issue, but according to all reviews I've seen downgrades the involvement factor by about two.

So I think the new X3 M40i will positively crush it in all aspects.

Can't buy one new right now but will absolutely get one in about two years as leases start to come in.

Is it really going to be that much different from an X4 M40i? I imagine the specs and options would be roughly the same.

That's what I wondering? It might look better... the x4 reminds me of the new Audi s5 sport back. They took a good looking car (kind of) the S7, and then just mushed into a smaller, stubbier car. I feel like that about the X4M. Perhaps X3 will look more proportional

It will have 335hp just like the M140i/M240i and 540i, according to inside info from a few months ago. That could have changed, but it isn't necessarily likely. I suspect a higher output B58 won't be available until next year. In that event we could see it debut in the G02 or G20.

I think you are wrong. The 340i in Canada, with the M performance package 2, has 355hp and 360 torque. I doubt very much BMW will go lower than those numbers which have been available on the B58 for over a year now. Go to bmw.ca and check

That's via the aftermarket M Performance Power Kit; BMW CA is simply offering it pre-installed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure BMW will happily offer up the M Performance Power Kit for the X3 M40i as well. But I am talking about the advertised power from the engine as it rolls off the factory floor.

We will see, but the fact that this is a direct competitor to the GLC43 AMG, and there will be no X3M, I would be shocked if the factory numbers are less 355hp

Don't forget the SQ5 too.

In my experience, setting expectations of advertised BMW power output based on what competitors offer is wildly inconsistent at best. I think ynguldyn will be right on this one.

But you're right, we'll see soon (just a couple weeks if I recall Edit: just one week now ).

And, by the way, there will be a proper X3 M (later).

I have a 2014 SQ5 and I agree with your comments. While the new gen adds some fantastic options with the height adjustable air suspension and torque vectoring rear diff, I'm holding off an upgrade until I see the new X3 M40i. The current X3 35i is just too weak compared to SQ5 but the M40i should change that. I just wish you could get it with air suspension.

Why wouldn't it have 355 like it's twin the X4 M40i? That would be like the M4 having 425hp and an M3 only having 400hp.

Because the X4 M40i uses an N55 and the X3 M40i will use a B58.

Right now there are only two versions of the B58 - the M0 with 322hp (240Kw) and the O0 with 335hp (250Kw). Eventually there will be a B58 with 355hp and even more. But like I said earlier, I don't think that will happen until next year. Regardless of what the X3 M40i gets at launch, you can bet it will get a power upgrade at some point.

Not correct, the B58 is available in Canada with 355 hp and 360 torque in the 340/440 with MPPSK for over a year now. I test drove one

If you could post the inside info, that would be great. I hope you are wrong on the 335hp number but your logic makes sense.

IMO the X3 M40i with 335hp...even with the weight savings...would not fair well against the competition. The X3 is not a 1/2 series and weighs more. To compete in this class/weight, the B58 should be at 355hp+. Next year is not good enough. BMW needs to bring it now.
