If my car gets delayed I'm going to cancel. I think that the long waiting times are hurting sales, but I guess BMW don't really care at this point. Where is the balance? 16 days for ordering in the states, to 9 months in Europe? And we have to pay a premium on top of that.

Did you complain about long wait times in the US for models produced in Germany and Austria? The "premium" prices you pay have nothing to do with BMW profits and everything to do with your country's own tariffs an taxes Talk to your politicians and enjoy your social services, long summer holidays, maternity and paternity leave -- 'cause you're paying for all that with your car purchase (and other taxes) and not sending more money to BMW as a "premium" customer.

Exchange rates can play a huge part as well. BMWs are sold in Euros. In 2007 GBP/EUR peaked at about 1 GBP = 1.51 EUR so a 50,000 EUR car would cost 33,110 GBP. It's now 1 GBP = 1.14 EUR so a 50,000 EUR car costs 43,860 GBP => over 10,000 GBP difference

I am also charged in Euro and last 3 months its appreciated 20% making car cost 15000 euro more from January so waiting it out or buy an used X5 if it remains the same by years end.

It says a lot for the X3 that you haven't given up when faced with a 50% deposit for a 6 month wait and rising prices. I hope to see your new X3 pics on here one day

Maybe you should try this guy's approach! Still a long lead, but he definitely got something while he waits!

Mr BMW would fall of his chair laughing, if we asked for that

Dealer told me during handover that they are taking orders for Feb 2012

Still rare as hens teeth locally and likely to stay that way for some time

He also mentioned that they are contacting people next week with existing orders about options that are effected by parts sourced from Japan

Ordered my X3 XDrive 2.0d on Dec 1st 2010 from Sytner Nottingham, took delivery 2 days ago. They confirm Feb 2012 for a new one ordered now. Mind you, people are waiting 4 weeks for an iPad 2 depending on model ordered in the UK right now, maybe our island is too small for these big freight ships to find?

I've given up paying any real interest in when mine will arrive. I'll just end up wishing the summer away and there are far better things to do with life. My A5 is already a month over its contract and the best my company is offering me until the X3 arrives in October is a reallocated 318d SE saloon. I mean, seriously. I think I'm going to start stalking nice company cars in the car park, finding out who they belong to and finding ways of getting them sacked so I can pick up their motors for now. Does that sounds slightly obsessive?

It's actually quite ingenious if you think about it. He's trying to dissuade others from ordering to cut down the lead times for himself. Devilishly clever.
Extremely clever! The Evoque is smaller than the X3, more X1 sized.
