Better mileage with winter tires!

I have the 19" package with Eagle LS2 all seasons. My winter set up is the Nokian Hakka for SUV. 18" and narrower and the speedometer is correct. With snow tires I have been getting ~ 23.5 to 26 mpg. The past month or so using my all seasons I at most got up to ~ 23.9 mpg, measured between fill ups.
Probably because of the wider tires. I don't think I drive too much harder.

Why don't you use dedicated summer tires when you use dedicated winter tires? But re milage: My experience is that what you might gain with lower roll-resistance summer tires over winter tires you loose with the air conditioning. So overall you stay level.

I have slightly poorer mileage here as well with summer tires, even though summer tyres are 10mm narrower than my winter ones!

It is very small difference and I think I drive more aggressive now with winter tyres and also we have higher speed limits during summer:

rural roads 80->100 km/h

highways 100 -> 120 km/h

Nokian hakkapeliitta 7 as winter tyre (non runflat) and Pirelli Cinturato P7 as summer tyre (runflat).

The difference is about 5%.
