Tow Bars in UK
I know this pops up from time to time ......
If anyone is looking to get a tow bar fitted in the UK, I have just had a removable one fitted by Phil Taylor Towbars in Hampshire. Small family run company with very high standards of workmanship and great pre sales advice. Exactly the same as BMW aftermarket (Westfalia) at a fraction of the cost. The price included the BMW specific wiring and software changes. All of which is approved by BMW and does not affect warranty. When the bar is removed it is completely invisible. BMW dealerships quoted me £1450 fitting time 4.5 hours. Mine was £570 all in and completed in just over an hour by 3 technicians working at the same time. This company has been mentioned before on other forums/threads and are well worth the journey even if you are not close by. MS

Thanks - good to know. I'm looking for an X3 and want to fit a towbar bike rack. Good spec used cars with towbars are few and far between.

Hi, I found same problem, I have an Msport so only Witter do a detachable one for it, I had mine fitted at Towbars & Trailers at Chesterfield complete with electrics (13 pin) for £510 inc VAT
That was also inclusive of software update and BMW wiring Harness, There is no indication whatsoever that a Towbar is fitted when removed

Me too
I have praised Phil Taylor's Tow Bar fitting service before.
He has fitted 4 bars for me over the years. Excellent service and good price. Happy bunny Roger Lee - The Westphalia detachable bar fits the F25 Msport very well. It was cheaper and in my opinion a better product than the Witter bar I had on my previous car. The detachable Westphalia bar is easier to fit and almost impossible to see when detached. |

Sorry for the silly question but is it "foldable" like the BMW original one? When I picked the f25 I have zero plan of towing anything, ever; however now I could definitely do with the hook...
If it's now foldable, how hard is it to put it on/off? Any pics?

Another thumbs up for Phil Taylor Towbars - just had a detachable one fitted to a 12 plate M Sport I've just bought from Vines, previously used them to fit one on a Skoda Superb - as said, all done in an hour for a reasonable price.
