BMW Diesel with BluePerformance (EU6) (S0163)

Anyone know what this option is all about??

BMW Diesel with BluePerformance (EU6) (S0163) - £895

I'm assuming it's linked to this (from 3 series)

Fresh air.
BMW BluePerformance in the BMW 320d and 330d.
Thanks to their particle filter and exhaust-gas recirculation system, the BMW 3 Series Sedan diesel engines have no problems complying with EU5 requirements. In fact, with BMW BluePerformance, the BMW 330d already meets EU6 standards that aren't set to be introduced until 2014.* This is thanks to the use of an oxidising converter, a diesel particulate filter and a catalytic converter to reduce harmful emissions. In addition to filtering out microscopic particulate matter from the exhaust stream, this combination ensures effective control of nitrogen oxide emissions and a reduction in NOx output.

*Only available for models with a manual transmission.

I think you've answered you own question but unless you are a tree hugger stay away. The added complexity of emission control and maintaining the system will be trouble in the future, it's like DPF with more control.

If you know anyone who operates heavy equipment ask them about the problems they have with Tier 4, their equivalent.

£900 too! Maybe it will be exempt from road tax or something so you'd get your investment back over 7 years - great!
