New 2015 X4

We needed to downsize the payment from our 2014 X5, so we turned it in early for a lower optioned X4 XDR28i. Jet Black exterior with black Sensatech interior. I really like it. I went from an unreliable 2011 F150 Ecoboost to the X4 and my wife went from the X5 to a Lexus NX200. Now we're both driving smaller SUV's that get 28ish MPGs on the highway.

I'm loving the X4, but it's early yet. It drives great, even with the smaller engine. It's super quiet on the inside, which, as a 46 year old, I don't mind. It actually helps the standard audio system sound just fine.

This is our 4th BMW. We started with a 330, then a Z4, the X5 and now the X4. This is the first one that is "mine". It will be an interesting test since I've been driving pickups for the last 16 years.........

I'm looking forward to reading posts on here to learn more about the X4.

Welcome! The X4 is still new, so the forum action here is not that much but tons of info on the car all the same.

Do post pics of it, first time I am hearing an X4 with Sensatec.

I've had leather on all of "my" vehicles over the last 20 years. I'm somewhat average in size 5'9" 195. But, all of the driver side seats wore badly from me getting in and out of the car/truck. So, sensatec was a no brainer for me....looks more or less like leather (certainly not cloth) and according to what I've read, is virtually indestructible. And like I said, cheaper. I know you shouldn't say it on a BMW forum, but cheaper for me, this time, was a big goal. I dropped the payment nearly 200 bucks from the X5. Just in case you're wondering why it matters, we now have a 16 month old and we have other things to spend our money on!!

Can any of you tell me more about the standard audio system in the X4. I've looked in my owner's manual and searched on line and all I can find is that it has 9 speakers. It looks and sounds like there are small rectangular subs under the front seats, but that would make 11....

i would be surprised if you have subs on standard speakers. Most guys here have HIFI or Harman Kardon. see this ---> http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1050967

please send us photos if you have this, its informative for all.

double check your car spec here, maybe you have HIFI--->> http://www.bmwarchiv.de/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html

My UK spec X3 Xdrive20d SE has the standard sound system (no Hifi or HK) but has a subwoofer under the driver seat. I think this varies by region though, so US spec X3/X4 may not have subwoofer as standard.

I will check that out when I get home. I can tell you for certain there are rectangular grills under each front seat that appear to be speaker covers/grills. I wouldn't think they would bother putting those in unless they were actually protecting a speaker.

Interesting I wonder how it sounds vs HIFI and HK. Is there a central speaker in the dash too?

Have you run your vin above to confirm spec is not HIFI?

According to that link, it has the HIFI speaker system. All it says on the window sticker is AM/FM/CD/MP3 Audio system with HD radio.

I believe they have the grills there even if there is no sub inside. Congrats on the new car! I have fully enjoyed mine thus far.

Yep, it definitely has subs. Stereo sounds great. I'm loving how the X4 drives. I've had nothing but double cab pick-ups for the last 15 years, so it's pretty enjoyable to have a sporty little SUV.

I'm looking forward to next week so I can actually drive it around and get it on the highway....

I've put just over 300 miles on the X4 so far. All I can say is that I really love driving the car. The Turbo 4 has plenty of power for my needs, the stereo sounds great and its just a pleasure to drive.
