Check your Coolant Manualy!
Hey guys, this morning when I cold started my car yesterday about to reverse out my car just shuttled down by itself and then displayed a low coolant.
When I checked, it has almost empty to non inside, I'm like wtf? Good thing I had pre-mixed 50\50 oem coolant bottles on stand by. My car is 7 months old with the n20.

Common issue. I had the dealer do my coolant top-up at the last visit

Just got this today! Looked inside and needed to put maybe 12 oz in to get it back up to "MIN". Didnt notice any leaks. I've had the car 10 months, but it's 15 months old.

same with me, 12k miles one year old. dealer told me the sensors are waaay sensitve and put a bit of water in it and it will be fine. put about a pint of water in and it was ok. I did question him as to watering the coolant down too much and he assured me that little bit wouldnt matter.

2011 X3 35i got the "Low coolant...engine damage warning...alert" at 12 months and 14K miles shortly after having the annual "service" visit.
Is BMW OEM coolant 50/50 premixed as sold or is it pure antifreeze needing to be mixed? |

At 21,000 miles my low coolant light came on. It was on the first really cold day of the season. I already had an oil change scheduled. I splashed in about 2 ounces of DI water, which was enough to make the warning light go off. I'll have the dealer give it a proper top up with BMW coolant.
If I wasn't already planning a service visit then I would have stopped by on the way to work and had the dealer top it off. |

I had our x3 bleed out antifreeze onto the driveway a few weeks ago. Towed it to the dealer - manufacturer defect pinhole leak in the radiator. Had to be ordered from germany, no part in the entire US. Even though the car is built here. derp.
The loaner made me realize how much better the steering was in our previous car (e92). Made the wife realize how much she prefers the x3's lighter steering lol. |

I also had to add coolant to our 2012 X3 after just about 12 months of ownership. Definitely unexpected for such a new car. I was far from home so just got some pre-mixed after-market stuff from a service station. I took it to the dealer but they said there wasn't a leak. Kind of annoying that they couldn't put a little more attention to fluid levels of the new cars.
