Front wheel bearings
Hiya, Last couple of days before my warranty expired, had what I thought was a slight noise from front nearside wheel, Dealer thought it was a wheel bearing, and replaced it foc as part of warranty. Approx £500.
I think noise is still noticeable so going back in for a road test, has anyone had same problem. and do they think it could be transfer box, only done 15K. Any advice much appreciated. |

Constant noise or intermittent?
I had a bit of a rumble up front same side when going over minor bumps in the road, took the car in and dealer found and resolved.

Also could be small stones trapped somehow in rotor dust covers. This has been an issue I've seen in the Porsche forum.

Good luck. Gotta get it resolved, especially if it's the bearings!

Hi Duke 1
Well front wheel bearing replaced by dealer at their cost, as I mentioned problem 3 days prior to warranty expiring. Took car for drive still heard a noise of low rumble, but very hard to hear with road noise in background. Back with dealer today, they agree there is still a noise, but not sure of cause, Keeping car overnight to do more tests tomorrow. Hope all at their cost, have got extended warranty if all goes pear shaped Mentioned small stones as you said, see what they come up with. |

Man that's a mystery. The stones would have cleared when they dismantled the wheel and rotor assembly.
Good to get the more dangerous potential cause eliminated. They'll figure it out I'm sure.

Hi Duke.
Just spoke to dealer, sound nothing mechanical, sound from tyres. 410 wheel 20" tyres. Let you know outcome if any. On a side note when you had your noise fixed what was reason given by dealer, to rectify same. Cheers |

I did not ask -- I was not the one who picked up the car. I'll find out tomorrow and revert. D

Well dealer checked everything they could think it could be, nothing found mechanical. Put a set of new wheels on from new stock car on, noise gone.
So at end of all that it,s the tyres. (not covered by any warranty). They have only done 15k, so will just have to live with noise and turn up radio . or spend over £400 for new set front tyres. Will just wait to see what new x2 is like when launched, or new Jag e pace looks good. |

Duke I
Hi update on tyres Sent to Pirelli for testing, said takes 10 Days, they confirmed they had received tyres Checked in with them after 10 days and was told due to Christmas it would take a while longer. I Though Christmas was same time every year !!!! They said tyres would be inspected on 23/12/17. Nope they were not. Checked in again 27/12/17 and they said they had not received tyres from carrier, Which was strange as they had already confirmed they had received them. They then made me a offer 50% off if I bought new tyres for the delay Declined. offer. Said I would only accept 2 new tyre FOC after being mucked about, and would take issue up to senior management Low and behold they agreed, new tyres being delivered today and being fitted tomorrow. End of days I think they had lost tyres in transit, but would not admit it. But worth they wait at end of day. Great outcome, as percevierence paid off PS Had great help from my dealer who gave me a loner For the 4 weeks FOC |

Hey I could swear that I have the same issue. I was hoping it was noisey tires and not a wheel hub or bearing. I have a temporary bad tire set up. Some bad all season falken tires up front and the rear I had michalin pss but I got a flat and replaced one of the michalin tires w my old stock Bridgestone potenza so they are 2 dif tire in the rear. I get a faint whirl sound idk how explain it but it's only during cruising at 50mph and above. I hoping it's just the tire. I will change then as soon as corona is over all 4. Any idea if this is the same as your issue?
