Exclamation Question about TPMS on a X3

Hi guys, I just have a concern, I will switch the wheels and tires on my wife's G01 2019 X3 for the ones on the X3M, they come with TPMS already, but my question is: do I will need to reprogram the TPMS on the new wheels to communicate with my X3? or are they plug and play via the iDrive?

Plug and play when you have the new wheels on. Make sure your old set with the TPMS are far from your car. IDK 100ft? Or just drive off from your house. Once youre next street over select reset TMPS on your iDrive. And drive for 10 miles with constant speeds over 25mph varying in speed and the new ones will sync and youre done.

I've got new rims for 2021 X3 M40i, and now looking to get TPMS. I'm getting conflicting information about OE TPMS. On one side people say it's BH SENS (HUF) RDE077V21, and on the other it's SCHRADER 28238. Of course, it's possible that both are OE, just like Pirelli, Michelin and Bridgestone tires. Anyone knows for certain, which of the two come installed in OE wheels?

Unlike tires, which are similar in price, Schrader's are half the price of HUF's. Going to dealer will cost twice as much as HUF's, so I'd rather not do that if I can get same thing elsewhere.

This is what they use for my winter package. From 1010 Tire.

Yup, there are many universal TPMS that might work too. Since Schrader's are available for $30 CAD each, I thought I'd rather go with something that's same as what BMW is using. Search here is also divided between OE HUF and Schrader, so it just seems to be luck of the draw which ones come with the car. Seems like both work, in addition to universal ones that many local and on-line tire shops are using.

TPMS Light

Hello! I need help ASAP

I have a BMW X3 2012 with about 90k miles. The TPMS light has come on after i got new tires. Tire pressure is fine but light wont go away. Tried resetting and it didn't work. Recently, TPMS light came on and all the dashboard lights, drive, back up camera and more were flashing and not working.

Turns out I have an error code D018E8. Does anyone know how to fix this? Its the TPMS sensor. Is it costly? I am a college student who got this car as a gift and simply can not afford it. Thanks in Advance!

You might want to check in the previous generation X3 area as this one pertains to the current G01 (2017+) chassis.

However, that being said.. you probably have an issue with one of the TPMS sensors installed in the tire (transmitter), or possibly a TPMS receiver that needs replacing, or possibly you need to calibrate the system. Unfortunately, I can't tell you which.

An additional possibility if your TPM are the original ones from 2012, the batteries in one or more have probably failed.

did you end up getting these installed? I bought the same ones but am getting quoted ~$470 by BMW just to install/program them

The price at the BMW dealership for one BMW OEM TPMS sensor & Valve is around $95,-

So you end up with $20,- mounting costs for each wheel which includes removal & installation of wheel on the car, removal and installation of tire, removal & installation of valve.

Sounds very reasonable.

I did not, yet. They are for winter tires, and the buying season is just around the corner. According to Rockauto, they do not require programming (install & go). I plan to mount winter tires in October, since that's when snow season starts here. I will post the results here.

The $400+ quotes were just for installation process -- not including the actual TPMS costs. Ultimately, a friend runs a repair shop and he's going to try to clone my current sensors. His additional costs for wheel/tire related things are much more reasonable. Feels like it's worth a shot for the price difference. Worst case I bite the bullet and go back to the dealership

Ok, thats way too pricey.

If you got the sensors already any good tireshop should install them for less than $150,-

I went to the independent shop today to mount and balance Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 ZP 245/45 R19 tires on Konig Rennform wheels with Schrader 28238 TPMS from Rockauto. Tech informed me that he verified sensors are working with the vehicle (2021 X3 M40i). No programming was necessary. They come pre-programmed for our car. It's also written on the invoice as "Customer supplied TPMS, Verified TPMS is working with vehicle". CAD $160 to install sensors, mount tires and balance them on Hunter's Road Force machine.

CAD $137.19 for 4 Schrader 28238 TPMS is pretty affordable (CAD $34.30 per sensor).
CAD $1,335.56 for 4 Konig Rennform wheels (CAD $333.89 per wheel)
CAD $1,445.60 for 4 Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 SUV ZP tires (CAD $361.40 per tire)
CAD $160.00 for mounting and balancing
Total winter package: CAD $3,078.35 delivered to home, including tax and tire environmental fee.

When I got my 2018 X3 I bought a set of winter wheels/tires from Tire Rack and just got the standard 433MHz sensors. They cost $224 for the set and they just worked. Nothing special about them.
