Winter tire setup question
Just recently purchased a f25 X3 3.5i with 19" wheels on them now. I'm looking into a winter set but had questions about the fitting.
The 18x8 wheels that I'm looking into have an offset of 35mm. The tires are 245/45. I believe oem is 245/50r18. I ran the numbers into wheel offset calculators. It says that the new wheels 32mm more clearance on the strut, and outside edge of wheel will retract 6mm. The difference in diameter is about 1" or about 3% speedo difference. What kinds of issues might I experience with this setup? Is 3% that big of a difference to throw off xdrive/cpu/etc? |

I have just installed 245/45R-19 Bridgestone Blizzak LM60 non-runflat tires on 19x8 Enkei Raijin rims. Never even considered 18 inch tires, this 19 inch system not only feels very good but the road bumps seem softer. Purchased tires, rims & TPMS from Tirerack. Very satisfied with products and service.

My X3 came with the 19" wheels but I chose to go with 18" wheels for my winter set. I am running 245/50R-18 Bridgestone Blizzak WS70 XL tires on 18x7.5 Breyton Race GTS wheels and the setup worked great last winter. Order the compete set from tirerack as well.
There was a post last year from a guy who deviated from the standard size and was getting xdrive system errors, so you might run into the same issue if you go with not standard tire sizes.

I just changed over from OEM M sport wheels & tires to OEM winter set-up from BMW. Bring on winter!
