Two different dashboards??????
I have noticed that there are like two different dashboards for the bmw x3. One has more colour on the trip computer and below the tachometer while the other only has a colour display in the middle and another needle below the tachometer.
As well, the first dashboard i mentioned, the screen seems to be more flushed with the dashboard if u get what i mean while the latter is obvious that there is a screen for the trip computer. Did anyone else also notice this difference??? |

You need pro nav, not just nav (with bigger 8.9" screen) in the UK. Not sure how many nav options you get in Canada but only pro nav gives you the better dash. And having seen both dashboards, pro does look a lot better.

In North America, there is only one size for the nav screen.

They should have document that better.....
There is no mention of this in any of the sale brochures. Love the look of the Pro Nav dash, lucky I purchased mine with Pro Sat Nav, the only option for us here in Australia if you wanted nav. Cant wait |

Who needs sales brochures when you have XBimmers?

Just checked page 53 of the Australian brochure and it clearly shows the LCD Display Instrument Panel with the Efficient Dynamics as a Standard Option.
Maybe Australia doesnt need to have ProSat Nav to get that dash.....either way would not get any car without Sat Nav these days :P |

BMW isn't in the business of informing potential buyers I've learned. It's a shame really. I would have spent a lot more money if I had known more about the packages. It helps if you have a good CA...which I didn't.

Yeh, I agree to that.
If you spend some time here on XBimmers before you go to the dealer usually you will be more knowledgable than most sales guys |

It's very nice sure, and I've gone for it this time, but it wasn't just a Nav vs no-Nav decision for me, it was the look + other technical benefits. Last car, I decided not to give BMW >2K for Nav. a) because it didn't look good in 3-series IMO b) My TomTom was <£300 and in many ways superior. c) Replaceable (with new improved versions, transportable) I'm sure I'll be happy with the New Nav. - but it still won't do some of the things my 2 year old TomTom will do.. e.g. + True real-time traffic - collating data from every vodafone user in the country (works in many countries in Europe) + Integrated cheapest petrol finder + .. a few others but they're the main ones that will be missed from £2.5k BMW SatNav.

+1. I don't really like their Real Time traffic and detour. We have so many highways in So Cal, and the system recommends to skip around traffic jam instead of using different highways. I just use it to find the traffic jam and pick my own route.

Dont forget the Digital TV Function and Internet Browsing which you also get once you have the larger 8.9" display
Also Split Screen is great having TV and Nav on the one display. One thing Audi does miss even on their latest MMI display |

The split screen nav is also good for having two different scale maps to follow at the same time, or one north orientated and one direction of travel. Makes it easier to follow IMO. Nav directions in the dash is a great feature too
