15,000 miles ... front and back pads, sensors and rotors. They said my wife does not drive the car enough. You either live with the shaking when you brake or replace the brakes.

Last time they checked I had about 5mm left.

It was $570 for pads, rotors, sensors at Calgary BMW, just for the rear. Fronts are indicating another 35k to go.

I have a bmw2014 x3 with only 32,000 miles on it. The dashboard has been saying since aug i need rear brake pads replaced, but the bmw people said i should be ok til jan. I went to get a tire replaced at a different place and they told me my rear brakes need replacing very soon.. I dont drive rough where i brake a lot etc. Is it normal for the rear brakes to only last this long?? Coz if so then why are we paying sooooo mich for this vehicle? The car is only 4 years old and with VERY low miles. And I have already had to replace the front brakes, the tires, and now rear brakes are due.

My rear pads were worn out (<1/8”) at 36K miles. I replaced the pads only, rotors were like new. I’m still on the original front pads at 62K.

I'm on my 3rd set of rear pads. They only last 10,000 miles for me. Trying non bmw this time. Ceramic and hopefully less dusty!

I'm surprised you needed to do the fronts. The X3 is rear brake biased on initial tip in of the brakes. This is so it doesn't dip the front end. Also the rear pads are a lot smaller than the fronts. My Oem front pads I think got over 50k and I went with green stuff front pads. Lost the initial bite when braking but no dust and they still look almost as fat as new 25k later.

I just changed to ceramic rears and hope they last long like the fronts and have less dust.

Stick w/stock pads- major dust devils but they bite well even when cold. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks..looks like we have the same vehicle (N52) etc.

I can't convince her to brake earlier/lighter lol. She drives my GC and comments how quick it stops. Well, it's about 600lbs lighter and does have better brakes lol.

The idrive on her X3 still says 3100 mi until brakes due. It's said that since day 1 (2 yrs ago). POS system since hers are starting to squeak a bit.

Same car, yes. They are heavy. Apparently your wife missed that part in driving school//lessons where they teach you that one should actually be easing off the pedal when approaching final stop😉
