Hey! I saw the post and went in to investigate. When I looked at the first pic, I said "Hey...I've got those rims!"

Then I saw the shout-out to me.

Yea...they are AWESOME rims. I have them on the car right now.

I have always had black matte rims (rattle-can on the 2001 Focus) and the wife never liked them. Now that she has a black car, she asked me to matte black the whole thing. She says her SQ5 looks "sinister".

Back to the post...great setup. And "cheap and easy" since it uses 18" tires!

Best to you
Paul

For what its worth - I have family in the Worcester, MA area that I could bring these tires to if this helps! Or I would be willing to meet somewhere within reason.

I'm not a buyer, but makes so much sense to buy a winter wheel set-up if you live in the North East. I remember years ago running my son up to AAA hockey tournaments in Rochester and the Greater New England area. Surprised that more folks didn't have winter tires...

Gritty, I couldn't agree more with you. Unfortunately many people assume 4WD or AWD means no need for snow tires. It hurts a little to front the cost, but realistically you are increasing the life of your all season/summer tires, getting something that is designed for the cold temperatures, gives you control in the snow... The list goes on and on.

Question

Hey, not able to help with a purchase but I have a question about the setup given that you're selling 18" tires/wheels. The picture looks like a V6 M40i with the M Sport brakes. Is that what you were driving as well?

I'm trying to finalize a cheaper winter option than the 19 inch wheels and RFT tires that the dealership is recommending. Personally would prefer the 235-60-18 option with a compact spare. A number of online tire sites show me the 18" option but I'm a little gun shy given that BMW won't give me much info on clearances with an 18" wheel and don't recommend. I'm driving a '20 X3 M40i.

Unfortunately I had the 4cyl X3. The picture is from another member who had the M40i and seemed to have no issue. Here is a link to that thread where he was discussing it:
https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1556515

Not sure if the Canadian website is different, but in the US the BMW shop is showing 18" as an option for your car:

Hope this helps!

You didn't find 225 to be too narrow? Concerned about how the car will handle on those when it's cold and dry, what did you think?

I didn't have any complaints about the performance of them. The standard X3 wheels are also 225 width.

I just installed 18x8 MSW Type 71 with a 35mm offset with 225/60r18 Continental Vikingcontect7s. Wheels fit just fine and plenty of clearance for the brakes. That was my biggest concern with the Msport brakes but I trusted that the tirerack website was accurate. Tires are more than adequate in the dry but I don’t drive this car like I do my M3.
