Professional Sat Nav

Does anyone know whether you can enter a destination into the professional Sat Nav as a latitude and longitude?

Not a definitive answer - but so far I've not found any menu that allows me to do that. I'll keep checking. You can send the destination to the car from the web, so I assume that there must be a more-or-less hidden way, but maybe it is only from the web.

Many thanks, Jijioben. Bit disappointing if it doesn't have such a relatively basic feature but I must admit that I couldn't see anything in the online manual myself.
Still if it can receive route instructions from Google, then that's something but it does rely on having some cell connectivity, which won't always be the case out in the sticks.

Would seem like a relatively simple software upgrade with BMW. I wonder if this is on the roadmap!

Good question and I don't think you can unless it recognises coords on one of the other fields.

It must recognise coords as an input though because you can use Google Send to Car and I'm sure this will send coords.

Without internet connectivity on either the car's SIM or your mobile's SIM you may not be able to get coords entered.

Chances of BMW adding this as an update? Very slim!

For a £2,500 nav system, someone should be waiting at your programmed destination to open the doors, unpack your bags and park it for you!

So, the nice person at the hotel who parked my car was not from BMW? I'm confused... And now I can't find my car in the BMW Remote apps anymore...

Haha, must be more than 1500m away, more like 1500 miles now

The original question is a good one. I have seen on commercial websites under 'contact us' coords to locate exactly a physical building in spare areas. Its not common in the UK to use coords but the only way to be accurate in some locations. I too think it should be a standard feature but cannot (until Oct) confirm its inclusion. I have seen on other sat navs that the 'current location' can be displayed as coords but entry of them appears not to be common

I have the facility to enter Lat and Long on my Toyota Sat Nav (nice touch screen too). I use it mainly when meeting hill walking friends in obscure country car parks or roadside locations, usually in the middle of nowhere.

Maybe but if it's on a website you would never need to enter it manually on iDrive. You would always use Send to Car on Google Maps or via iPhone on BMW Remote. You can also use Google Local Search in the car and then add as a destination. Ultimately, if you have Internet coverage you shouldn't be entering co-ords manually on iDrive, unless someone just handed you them on a piece of paper. Could also be risky if you get one digit wrong!!

I'm not defending the nav for not allowing you to enter co-ords, just being pragmatic
