Another vote for the existence of a cross wind issue. Well before this thread I noticed a lot of movement at normal highway speeds, and noticeable wind noise during gusts around the driver's window. It's not just a passing observation, it is a significant annoyance. I'm comparing it with my '04, '07 and '10 MDX's.

If it's a problem - sell it cheap...

Following up on my X3's high wind stability issue, got a 4 wheel alignmant yesterday and the car drives much better and feels much better on the highway and turns. I have not driven it in high wind condition yet, so I am not sure if that problem have been rectified. The tire shop found one of the front wheel's toe out of spec and corrected it. One thing I also notice is that what I use to think was wind noise coming from the side mirrors is now gone. I believe I probably mistaken noise from the tires rubbing to be wind noise. The next time I am on the highway in windy condition, I will report back on the stability issue.

I notice the wind a bit more in my X3 but that was expected. I am not too bothered by it myself.

Thought I am the only one having this issue with my '12 28i, and I notice this often not particularly on high winds, even in regular highway winds. I experienced it mostly on I-93 from Boston to New Hampshire...sometimes I feel embarrassed that I might have scared the guy in next lane by driving close to the lane markers. It's tough to maintain a straight line for more than 5 mins at 70-75 mph...car tend to weave from left to right or right to left, based on the wind direction and I have to keep correcting my center. I don't have DHP, my steering is on the lighter side.

I tried the same with my colleagues CX-9 and MDX on same road, those didn't had the issue. Both felt pretty planted on the road...may be both are heavy vehicles.

I did noticed this on another X3 35i in front me while I was driving a rental Chrysler 300 to DC last weekend. That X3 guy was all over the lane weaving the road, he couldn't keep his vehicle in a straight line for more than minute...it was little windy and the entire traffic was flowing at 80 mph. Again the 300 felt more planted no wind noise since it's a heavy sedan.

Have you check your front wheel alignment. My alignment was barely out of spec but it was drifting like it was way out of spec when driving on the highway. I think the X3 is really sensitive to wheel alignment. Its worth a shoot, if you bring it to a tire shop, they will check your alignment for free, if its out of spec, they will adjust it for you for $79.99 at Sullivan tire with on line coupon. another good way to tell is let go of your steering wheel at low speed and see if your car maintain a straight line. Good Luck

Thanks X Men!

I tried let go of steering many times at lower speeds and it always steer right (sometimes left) between speeds 25-35 mph or even less, then it becomes normal after that range. This has been the case since I took the car from showroom.

Since this is my first AWD vehicle I assumed it's a normal behavior like torque steer.

I will take it for wheel alignment this weekend.

I had Sullivan align my MB C300 and they totally screwed it up. MB fixed it for me. Beware of non-dealer shops performing certain services and be aware that they also might be referencing the wrong specs.

I wonder if this perceived sensibility to wind for certain people might be due to play in the steering rack? we know there is an ongoing issue there (aka "the clunk"), and that's typically a situation where play would have an impact..

On my brand new X3 13', I can feel the wind pull the car about if hitting a crosswind, but it's 'predictable' and in fact a lot less jerky than my old car (renault scenic)
