Hi everybody,

This is going to be my first X3 after being a long time 325i owner.

I purchased a xdrive35i CPO subject to a favorable PPI report.

My concerns are rust (which isn't covered by BMW) as well as buying a car long distance.

I was hoping somebody on this forum might know of a trustworthy mechanic near Maywood, NJ who will do the PPI for me and ideally is familiar with the requirements of a CPO car (ie...tire tread, etc..).

Please let me know.

My mechanic seemed more concerned with all the bolts & parts covered in rust than the shell itself.

You have not considered to relocate to Phoenix?

Normally I would not be concerned about corrosion, but living in Tampa, it might well be a problem.
I suggest a generous use of anti-corrosion oil spray.

Didn't you already purchase the car? I'm sure you'll have mechanical issues way before rust becomes a problem.

I put a deposit to hold the car and have negotiated a final price subject to the PPI....
