2016 X3 Rear Bike carrier
Placed order for 2016 X3 due to arrive June 2015.
Looking for bike racks but dont want a hitch. Anyone have the click-on rear bike carrier by BMW ? Apparently no hitch required Is it easy to use ? Thanks. |

Wife and I are about to purchase a '16 X3 35i as well and trying to decide if we should pay for a hitch receiver install, or buy this click-on bike carrier by BMW you mention as well….be curious if anyone has any insight on this as well.
Thanks! |

That's pretty slick, thanks for the share. Unfortunately, we ride solid front axle mountain bikes so fork mount racks don't work for these newer "all mountain" bikes. |

Love the idea of an inside rack, but the saddle height of my road bikes prohibit this entirely. I am undecided on using the BMW rack or going with a hitch, receiver and receiver rack.

I would go with a hitch. If I'm not mistaken, you can use it with any brand hitch-carrier. I regret not having chosen the hitch option.... I always thought about getting the bmw click- on system instead. But it turns out to be quite expensiv here in Switzerland. Especially if retrofitted. Looking back it was silly that I did not get the hitch!

I'm in wholehearted agreement! I went the same way as you, omitted the hitch when ordering and now regret doing so.

Get a hitch, without any doubt.
I'm a competitive mountain biker who has raced bikes for more than 20 years and carried them on dozens of vehicles over that period. Nothing comes close to a hitch-mounted platform rack like a Thule EuroWay or Easyfold. I transport bikes on a EuroWay twice a week and would never go back to anything lesser or gimmicky, it's just too much hassle. http://www.thule.com/en-us/ca/produc...9032-_-1684676 Last edited by MartinHattingh; 07-01-2015 at 09:56 AM.. |
