I placed my order on 5/27. After checking BMWUSA.com a few times daily (and who hasn't) the status of our 35i has changed to Production. Whoohoo!

Build status has been updated to 'Finishing Touches'. No build video yet. It is very cool to be able to track progress like this. Now, let's get that new X3 shipped out West!

Video? I am sure they are more concerned about the car.

The video finally arrived today, 12 days after the build was complete. There are plenty of copies of the production video on this forum, so here's just a couple of pictures instead.

It's here! Just got the call! We are picking it up tomorrow morning.
The BMW USA Web site says the status is still 'Finishing Touches'. The 800 line says it is 'at the port awaiting a shipping vessel', My CA says it is in and ready for delivery. I'm going to go with what he says! Pictures coming soon... |

We picked up the new X3 on Saturday. This car is amazing! Quiet, powerful, extremely comfortable and beautiful. I guess you could say I like it. I'm amazed at the build quality -- everything is as I expected. The fit and finish are excellent.
Driving is fun! We ordered DHP and I'm very glad we did. It makes the car feel more stable and every bump is damped well. I drove over some known rough roads and the car just soaked them up. If you're on the fence about getting an X3 -- do it! Thanks to everyone on this board for your help and information. Active boards like these are invaluable! |

Congrats! What was the total time it took to get the car from when you ordered it to the day you picked it up? I placed the order for my car today and gave me the tracking info and I can't wait to get this! Lol

Congrats! I can't wait until mine gets here. I just ordered an X3 about 3 weeks ago and the system says "in production". I wonder exactly what that means because a vehicle moves through production pretty quickly - it doesn't spend a week on the assembly line. It is interesting to hear that the site showed Finishing Touches when it was actually at your dealer and ready for delivery. Tracking orders is great but if they don't update the data all the time then it is of limited value.

Total time was 5 weeks. It felt a LOT longer than that. The dealer gave me one of his production slots, so that helped move things along. Also, it seemed like status updates changed on Fridays, with nothing happening in between. I don't know if that is the case or just coincidence, but it certainly seemed like things always changed on Fridays.
I've had the X3 for five days now and the web site status still says 'Finishing touches'. The 800 number says 'in transit'. I'll check again on Friday and see what the updated status is. Oh, don't bother calling the 800# and talking to a human -- they are totally useless and just tell you to call the dealer... Last edited by 3Bimmer; 07-04-2012 at 01:28 PM.. |

I just got the number from the dealer to track the progress yesterday.. its still on the received order portion.. One thing tho, when i look at the actual vehicle on the overview/edit portion when i log in it says. "black sapphire" when i ordered it in Alpine white. I called immediately and my sales guy told me he has the order form and it was ordered in Alpine white and it was deffinately AW and his manager said it hasn't been updated on the site yet.. has anyone experienced this.. I hope it changes soon to the correct color lol

If it would make you feel more comfortable, you could always ask the sales guy to FAX you a copy of the order form. I did. I got two nice screenshots showing the Order Acceptance, with every option detailed, and a breakdown of the items in each ordered package.

The next thing that you'll find is that the website is the slowest way to get updates on your build progress, the 800 number is your 2nd best, and the sales guy is the only one who can access the most up to date information. Problem is, the sales guy doesn't care about you anymore, and isn't going to update you at all. Feel free to call and annoy him with status update requests, LOL.
