I am trying to wrap my head around the trip computer reset function.

What I would like to do is the the average mpg on the console display between speedo and tach.

If I understand setting the automatic reset on the idrive, this resets every time the car is off for 4 hours, so this is not what I want. Also, I am not sure this shows up on the console?

So what is the best way to get the console to start calculating each time a fill up. I normally leave the console display to show instantaneous MPG but can cycle it to show average.

I just press and hold the button on the end of the stalk on the left hand side of the steering wheel whenever I fill up. It resets MPG for me.
