Please tell me why I should get an X3.
I have a 328i but need more utility. I am considering an X3 but my gut is telling me to stay away. I can't explain it. I drove several and they seem very nice. Reviews I read are so-so.
Tell me why an X3 is an excellent, solid, reliable vehicle?? Is it?? Is it not?? 328i's have a great track record. I'm not sensing X3's do. Help me feel right about getting one. |

Our 2006 X3 has 71000 trouble free miles. It fits 4 adults very comfortably. It can fit 2 parents and a college kid, PLUS dorm contents in one trip for college move in/move out. It has more than adequate acceleration, and fantastic braking and handling for it's size. The mileage is reasonable for suburban driving, despite using premium. Open the huge sunroof and the windows, and pretend you're in a convertible. This is the 3rd SUV I've owned, and has the best snow performance (1997 Toyota Land Cruiser and 1st gen Acura MDX).

When I got in my X3 for the first time it hugged me so nice I new it was right! Dont force yourself into one if you really dont want it. ive had an 2002 325ci and loved that one as well the x3 feels the same just higher up. I got mine with 20,000 miles on it and now it has 121,000 and it still will take anything i throw at it plus it feels and drives like when i first purchased it.
Ive gone on a lot of road trips and can pack it full of toys, luggage and tents. I do a lot of remodel jobs on condos i get to turn around and flip and I can pack an 18cu foot fridge and close the trunk! so nice. also i believe i looked it up before and my 2004 x3 has more cargo room then the x5 which surprised me... If you going into snow it can take on almost anything ive never been stuck and I try to get stuck lol. also if you go off road or would like to its a champ I almost fell off a dirt trail (4 foot drop) but then i found out that the X-Drive only comes on when you need it and it dug its nails into the dirt and pulled me out of a vary bad situation. lol you could actually feel it kick in and grab the trail... o you can also fit a blow up mattress in the back! and use the power outlet in the back to blow it up |

I believe it was voted Germany's most reliable car over the past x years, but I can't find where.
It is based on the e46 platform, so the electronics are more simple than the e90. It is a great car and you won't be sorry.

We absolutely love our '08 X3 si. We've also got an '06 325i and loved it so much that we traded in our Ford Explorer for the X3. As much as we love our 325 we love the X3 even more. It is such a pleasure to drive, gets great mileage, and feels so roomy and has amazing cargo capacity for its size.
I see a lot of bad reviews on the X3 and I don't get it. It is by far my favorite car purchase in the last 15 years. |

I prefer my 2006 X3 than our 2007 X5.
Yes, the X5 is more comfortable, and has the 3rd row of seats, automatic is nicer in traffic etc. X3 is great on gas, tons of fun to drive and in my opinion much better built than the current-gen X5. |

I had a 2005 x3 since 2005 before getting a 335 last week, absolutely loved it... I live in PA and got lots of snow, and it worked just fine never a problem till i got up to higher mileage and didnt have warranty anymore... had some little electrical problems and then my transfer case and back coils broke, but that could also be from the person who wrecked into me and might've gone unnoticed at the time, I still have the x3 and absolutely love it for longer trips...

Great cars. My 15 year old daughter bought one as her first car. BMW panache with the enhanced security of 4wd, better vision in traffic, plenty of space for all the teenager "stuff", good economy.

THANK YOU for justifying my purchase from last weekend! Just picked up an '06 X3 with only 52k miles. We're moving to the mountains next month, and our '00 4-Runner doesn't have 4WD. Always wanted a Bimmer and finally took the plunge. Can't believe how roomy it is (yes, ~20 cuft more than an X5), comfy it is, and such a dream to drive. Glad to hear about the X-Drive also...gonna be hoofin' it up to ski mountains too hopefully! mK |

I have a 2007 328i coupe, also have a 2008 x3 si, amazing SAV, lots of room for 4, the si package adds very nice options, fairly quick and has not given me one problem since first day of ownership, now have 100,000 km and it still drives like new. Amazing vehicle, would purchase again!

I got my X3 yesterday, to be used instead of the 335i during winter. It is a low mileage 3.0i 2005. It is a very nice car to drive and I'm happy I did get my hands on it. It has only one previous owner (a lady), which leaved the car to a shop for reconditioning twice a year. She has now bought a brand new X3.
I've had many cars through the years and have to say the X3 brings the most pleasure of them all. Great comfort, very stable and capable to use little space on the road and good looking exterior and interior. The car has a nice black interior with comfortable sport seats. The paint still looks like new after 6 years of use, which is quite unusual. One thing I miss is an audible warning when coming too close to a hinder behind the car. An aftermarket kit for this is bought today and will soon be fitted. Last edited by R1000K3; 11-01-2011 at 01:08 PM.. |
