OP, what sacrifices did you have to make on your alignment specs or was there enough adjustment to get it back to normal?

It's been so long ago, that I don't really remember. I brought it to BMW and had them do the alignment. All figures were in the green.

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but what is the color of your X3?

Deep Sea Blue. Thanks. It looks awesome when it's clean and in the sun.

This makes me happy to hear.

I just asked Turner Motorsport if anything else is necessary for camber and I was told,"Sport springs will change camber slightly but not enough to require a camber kit." Awesome considering the shop that I asked to do the work forcefully suggested other parts were necessary after the drop to compensate for camber.

Unlike OP's $250 for installation, this place wants to charge $750 (including alignment which is lifetime for $100)

Go somewhere else. These springs are not that aggressive and that price is way too high.

Hi Longbow, car looks great. I am going to get an X3 dsb/oyster from a family member in a couple years and I am already planning mods.

I am thinking 19" BBS CH-R, CX-R or 225M X1 wheels but I want to go really low. I checked out KW coil-overs and I think that's the most aggressive drop out there, there is not a lot of lowering options available for the F25.

Hi Longbow, I know it's a long time, how is the X3 performing now? I am thinking of lowering mine (have exactly same unit and color as yours). Worried about any issues on the camber and suspensions.

No issues. I'm up to 40k miles and my second set of tires.

When I took measurements before leaving. The OEM suspension measured approx 17.5" from wheel well to the center of the BMW roundel on all four corners. After driving home from the install, I measured again and the new distance was 15.75" all around. Since these were purchased used, I'd imagine they're not going to settle any lower than this. I did not notice any difference in ride quality. I did feel lower looking over the hood.

Perfection!

Great to hear you're still loving them after a few years. I'm about to buy a used X3, and it's freakin' impossible to find one with the DDC package on it. Coming off a 535 wagon, I am looking for lower wheel gap, and hopefully an improvement in handling as well.

Funny how this guy here hated his H&R Sport Springs:

http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=829676

I wonder if it's because he doesn't have the Dynamic dampers that you do?

And not to state the obvious, but I thought you always are supposed to get new shocks too when getting new springs, as otherwise the shocks will get ruined over time from being compressed all the time. Are you able to get away with that because you have DDC? Or can you just do the springs on the non-DDC cars too, and be fine?

Otherwise, it's KW V2 coilovers it looks like for me. Have you come across any reviews on those?

I haven't seen anything on the KWs for the X3. The H&R drop isn't that aggressive. My X3 (ex-wife's now) doesn't have any shock issues and it has 67k miles (about 57k of those are on these springs.

Have H&R since a year. Lowered vehicle 35mm.

Somewhat worse chassis comfort - otherwise improvements all around.

It is, of course, somewhat of a cheat, not to "shorten" also dampers. Ride height is about same as fully loaded - take care at bumps. I can sense that vehicle riding close to front bumpstops.

I have just had my H&R springs installed today. I measured before going to the shop and my measurements in the garage were 16.75" all round. During the install I was told one of the rear shocks was blown and need to replace the back pair. All in all with alignment here in Canada with all our taxes etc... it cost me just under $1700. 8 hours to install plus $150 for alignment and $500 for shocks.
Once home I measured them up again - 16" fronts and 16.75" rears.
Biggest expense of any mod and for that price I could have got a JB4 +WMI kit and maybe even the catless DP.

Wow, what an experience. Did they take 8 hours just install the Springs, or that included the labor for the shocks also?

As far as driving feel, at least that should have improved. I noticed a measurable difference the car being more planted around corners.

I'm really surprised that your drop is so minimal in the front, and nothing in the rear. I'm not sure where you measured from, but it is supposed to be from the fender to the center of the hub.

These are my measurements after 50 miles Of driving on them. The front dropped 1.5 inches, and the rear a full inch.

Anyone with H&R springs switch over with KW v2 or BC coilovers on their x3?

A year ago, back when I was looking into springs vs coilovers, I couldn't find a single person on various NA forums who had put coilovers on their X3. This was the research I did at the time. Hope it helps.

I'd have expected four hours max. Regardless of blown shocks or not (all that stuff comes off and gets reinstalled anyway).

Get your work done elsewhere next time!
