With any fumes it best to contact the dealer!
It's not all the time but I tend to notice it more when in stationary traffic, almost as though the fumes from the vehicle in front of me are being sucked in. Will be going to the dealer soon to see if they can find anything amiss

Best you go sooner rather than later. The reason I emphasise this is because some time in the last year a young lad cut holes in the bonnet of his car (for the car to look cool) and he had the heater on and it sucked fumes into the car and gassed himself and his girl friend. A very tragic case highlighted in the press.

I am not saying you would ever entertain this sort of modification on your car, but you will understand where I am coming from with regards to fumes.

Simyth2014, like yourself we have a 2 month old BMW X3 with the 2.8 gasoline engine. We are also noticing a very annoying, intermittent smell, like acetic acid. We checked the engine compartment but there everything looks clean. No idea yet where it comes from.
