Here you can see the older models with M12 bolts was 120NM
The F25 X3 has M14 bolts so must be torqued to 140NM The old E83 X3 also had M14 bolts

This question comes up a lot. With my previous BMWs it was a moot point due to staggered setup.
I choose to go with bmw's advice. If they felt rotation was safer or promoted longer wheel use, they would recommend it. BMW knows that most of us are not foolish enough to pay a dealer mark up for new tires. They engineered and tested the car; I will stick with that advice. I don't drive my x3 very much anyhow, so the cost savings is nominal at any rate. |
