x3 lease help!
Hey guys,
I stopped into my local dealer to check at the X1() today . After I test drove the car I told him it's not for me and if anything I'll probably be looking to get the x3 when my lease ends. Currently ,I have a little under 75 days on my F30 lease so I want to see what's out there. I asked if the dealer had any X3's his guys would heavily discount to sell. He said he had a 2016 X3 35i loaner with about 10k miles which has been laying around for about 3 months. So, I told him I'd be interested in it if we could work out a great deal. This is the description and pricing of the vehicle : 36mo/10k miles *DEMO*2016 BMW x3 35xi (10K Miles) Black Sapphire Black Leather Cold Weather Package Driver Assistance Premium Package Harmon Kardon Another package for $1k ( didn't print on spec sheet) MSRP: $53,900 Price: $44,749 Residual : $29,352 Includes: Acq fee : $925.00 Gov Tax : 134.15 doc fee : 134.00 Taxes: 2076.35 Residual:59% M.F. : .00135 Rebates: $1000 BMW Loyalty Due at Signing : $1,848.36 Monthly Payment : $553.46 I'm thinking I can still add the $1,500 lease credit , and try to bargain another 2k-3k off the price. This is with them taking my car back 2 months early. The payment are currently $606 a month. Let me know what you guys think. Thank you |

waste of good money. is this a 35i msport? you can buy a 13-14 CPO 35i with 30-35k miles on it for $28k-$34k depending on packages/model for less per month.

Lease payment is higher than Cali because of the amount of tax up front that is being capitalized. Not sure if the $44,749 price is before or after that $1,000 rebate. If it is before you are 17% below MSRP on that vehicle. If after you are around 15.5% below MSRP. I do not know about NY but in a lot of markets you can get 7% or a little bit more or MSRP on a new X3 before incentives/rebates. Also note that because of the miles the residual is over $2,000 lower than it would be on a new one (25 cents per mile for miles over 500).
Lets do the basic math... Assuming this car were new, and you were able to get 7% discount before incentives, selling price before incentives would be $50,127. After incentives $49,127. Residual would be 59% of MSRP or $31,801. Therefore the rental/depreciation charge on this car is $17,326 over 36 months or $481.28 month (+ tax, fees, interest etc.). On your deal, the selling price is $44,749 (assuming) before the rebate and $43,749 after, the residual is $29,352. Therefore the monthly depreciation/rental charge is $14,397 over 36 months or $399.92 (+ tax, fees, interest, etc.). The difference in the rental charges between what is considered a pretty good deal on a new X3 or the deal you have on the used/demo X3 is $81.28/month. Only you can answer the question, is $81/month difference (assuming you could get the deal on a new one that I described) worth the 10,000 miles and it being "used" as opposed to brand new? If so, then go for it. If you can negotiate another $2k off the selling price, the difference between the rental/depreciation charges on it and new grows to about $136. Personally, I don't think that is a bad deal on that demo. Another 2k lower would be better But unless my budget was tapped and I could not afford another $90-$100/month (I am adding additional taxes, etc.), then I would be more interested in new. Again, that is just my personal preference, and you may have different circumstances and priorities... Get another $2k or $3k off the price of that demo and then the decision, at least for me, would get much harder... Last edited by mde83; 03-16-2016 at 08:11 AM.. |
