Told by the Dealer last week that the car is definitely in transit (status 9610). Have tried for the last 18 days - after production was complete to track via the WW (and KLINE) track and trace with no luck.

I have the last 7 digits of the VIN and have tried putting 10 % in the number, and various combinations of what i think the VIN will be to no avail. Can anyone please confirm what the first 10 VIN characters are for a 2013 2.0d? My best guess is WBAWY320XD.......

Merry Christmas to all of you guys out there btw!

The dealer has the full VIN on their system before it even enters production so just call and ask for it

I'm sure the answer is no- but in the UK is there anyway to specify the factory tyres which come with the X3? I notice that different countries get different standard tyres i.e. my 30d has Dunlop Sports Maxx, which I presume are summer tyres.
Can you specify All-Season tyres, which I think they get in Cananda.

Think manual X3's have a different VIN no to the automatics. If it's any help, mine starts WBAWY32030xxxxxxx and it was built in August this year, so I'd have thought yours will be the same.

Try this Russian BMW VIN Decoder site:

http://www.rubmw.ru/vincode/eng/

When given the last 7 digits, it tells me the rest, and gives a nice breakdown of the installed features and options of my X3.

Thanks for the help and advice guys. Just tried the russian site and it has come up with the goods - WBAWY32080......., difference between the 30 and 80 must be the gearbox?

The list of descriptions makes interesting reading....what the heck is "Omission of non-combined operation"?

Tried the number on the WW site and still no luck.

Delivery route through the UK?

Dropped into the Dealer's last friday (28th December) as we were passing and was told that car was in the UK at Thorne. Had a chat (not with my contact who was on leave) about likely delivery due to the New Year holidays and PDI etc. and came up with the likely scenario that next weekend (extended to 4 - 7 Jan) was probable for a pick up date.

Phoned Dealer (and spoke to my usual guy) again today so that he could hassle Thorne for a date and was told that the car is at Oxford??

Dealer told me not to get excited about this weekend .

Initially, Dealer thought the car would be brought in to the UK via Immingham and therefore Thorne would just be a short transfer.

Are the loads being dropped off at Southampton and working their way up country in stages? I know BMW has the MINI plant at Oxford but first I've heard that its involved in the distribution? Can anyone shed any light please?

Might finally get some UK use out of my winter tyres this weekend:

We had 1 day of snow in total last winter and it was all gone a day later with no ice.

I specified UK because they did come in handy driving in Europe over Christmas

BTW guys, just received my VIN from the garage, anything I can do with that? The US guys seems to be able to follow the production & shipping. Can we do anything similar?

Oh, and about 30cm of snow in mid-wales!

Yep, you can sometimes track it when it gets on a ship but it doesn't always work. See first page of this thread for instructions

Yep, I think Wales has been hit hardest. Brecon Beacons will present some challenging driving!

Haha... Just got home from the office... The tyres didn't perform as well as I thought it would, was still slipping around in places but definitely felt confident and was trying to get the dude in front of me to go faster than 10 mph!

Been out in the snow, pleased to report she coped well on standard tyres. Hill decent control came in handy and worked well.

Apparently my X3 is already shipped and should arrive in the next 2 weeks. Quite a bit faster than planned!

I'll still have to let it sit on the parking at the garage until I can get the new plates tho :-/

I'd like to see the Bronze with the Red leather. There can't be many around judging by the stats from Horsey. Bronze paint numbers are very low, along with Red leather low. I like the colour combination but wasn't brave enough to choose it.
Enjoy!!
