Side Blinkers

Does only the 35 have the side blinkers? I'm looking to buy a 28 and notice this very cheesy chrome X where the side blinkers should be.

I was told by our dealer that on the MY2014 LCI they removed the side blinkers because the mirrors now had blinkers.
But you are correct, BMW chose the easy option by putting cheap chrome inserts where the blinkers originally were.

I saw some 16 models that had the side blinkers when I was at the dealer last weekend but I forgot to ask/look to see if it was a part of some sort of option package.

Side markers

Unfortunately on my 2017 X3 there are also those cheap chrome covers. Did anybody try to replace them with the OEM or after market blinkers? Is there a wire connection still in place? Thanks

Painted covers

Does anyone sell a painted cover to match the body color? Not an ideal solution but might would look better then the chrome covers.

Are you saying that the side mirrors don't come with the turn indicators? My wife's 2012 X3 has the little lights on the front fenders. Surprised the hell out of me the mirrors don't have them....even our old 2007 MBZ had them in the mirrors........

The use of vinyl wrap sounds good and easy to apply however the durability will be very dependent on add. UV protection in the film. Unprotected film desintegrates probably within weeks were we live in Arizona.

Does anybody know how the part is mounted? Is it just clipped in or does it need to be slided as the blinkers?

On the newer X3, the signal light is on the mirrors and the mirrors shape look different from the older X3. My 2014 has old mirrors design. I can't say which year it has changed. Why? Because BMW doesn't push all changes in the new year model at once. For example, my 14 X3 was produced on May 2013. With that said, it is the earliest year 2014 production. And it doesn't have all the updates that I can find in other 14 X3 such as the new design of window vipers controller.

All North American vehicles have sidemarkers enabled; though, extend varies by vintage.

I can tell you that for my 2011 X3, depo makes tinted/smoked side marker replacements which are great. iIf I remember correctly it is was for models '10-'16 ( could be off on the years), I got the part #, I can post it soon if anyone wants it.
