Sparkplugs for N55-B30A?

I am planning to keep my car for many years, and since I don't like the cost/attitude at BMW dealer, I have made my own serviceplan, to be implemented when 3-year free service is up.

Service will be performed by ex-BMW mechanic.

There is no problem to get parts - but for sparkplugs. There seem to be a coohoot between BMW/Bosch, since there are no plugs for N55 available on the Swedish net-market.

This is probably against EU-directive=law.

Since there are few X4:s that have reached "spark-plug-mileage", I ask on this Forum: what plugs for N55-B30A?

I got a direct mail from Forum member: Bosch 0 242 145 518. Thanks!

When checking on the net, Ebay has sixpack of said plugs "for N55".

I also talked to "my" future mechanic - he said that typical life is 100.000 km, which is just about planned "life" for my car.

Ignition Coils may also go kaput at or about the same time as spark plug replacement.

SAAB "invented" the DI-cassett (Direct Ignition), with integrated 4 coils, about 30 years ago. Because of vibrations the working life of the cassett is anything from 100-100.000 km. I always carry a spare.

It seems that BMW has gone the same risky route. Less vibrations in in-line six?

My dad's X3 has the N52 engine inline six cylinder. One coil pack went bad after 60,000kms of ownership but we decided to change all the spark plugs and coil packs as a matter of good housekeeping. When my mechanic pulled out the spark plugs he noticed they were starting to get burned.. so lucky we decided to go this route. Power was now better than before the misfires started occurring.
