Does the 2012 X3 still come with staggered wheels with 309 option?

My 2011 X3 35i Sport Package with the upgraded wheels (Style 309 - now standard on 35i I think) has 245/45-19's up front and 275/40-19's in the back. Are the new ones still staggered?

I find it odd that the M Sport wheels are 245/45-19's all around and the upgraded Sport Package wheels are wider in the back...

This is strange. Updated information in Norway still says staggered 309's and 369's.

Front: 8,5 J x 19 - 245/45 R19
Rear: 9,5 J x 19 - 275/40 R19

Hope that's a fact and doesn't change...

M sport is a square setup in the US for some strange reason. Sport package is a staggered setup. Wish I could have gotten staggered on my m sport. In Europe, m sport is staggered.

This is quite surprising to me. I just ordered my X3 35i M Sport with DHP and certainly expected the rear tires to at least be as wide as the rear Sport's tire Package... contacting my salesperson to better understand this issue??

I just picked up my new 2012 X3 35i with SAP including 19" 309 wheels. They are NOT staggered. I have Goodyear Eagle 245/45R19 tires on all four wheels. I checked the tire inflation label in the driver's door and it indicates that this is the correct size. Picture of tire and label attached

Did you test the x3 with lesser wheels and tires combo? Did you notice a significant change in ride quality?

My X3 has the staggered 19" wheels (245-45 front / 275-40 rear). I test drove both styles but I didn't know the feel of the car good enough at the point to notice any difference...

How much was the option for those wheels? Did it come with the Pirelli's? How have they worn? Any regrets with the wheel and tire combo?

The 2011 X3 came with 18" wheels and the 309 staggered wheels were a $600 option. I absolutely love the wheels...

The tires that the car came with were Continental ContiSport 3 SSR's. The fronts showed significant wear on the inside corner of the tread. The thread was overall barely legal and we are entering our rainy season so I replaced them. They had 13,500 miles on them (eek!).

Did you replace all 4? With which brand? How much, if you don't mind me asking?

I am considering upgrading my 17 inchers with those. I know what you are thinking... "major league poseur", but I like the look and the 17's are a stupid design ideal for being hard to clean.

I have a whole thread about it... but I ended up replacing them with non run flats and buying an extra wheel and tire which I store in my trunk. It was cheaper than a new set of SSR's.

There are only 3 or 4 choices for 245/45-19 front 275/40-19 rear SSR's. They are all expensive!

There are a lot more choices when you look beyond run flats but it is still somewhat more limited compared to having 245/45-19's all around.

I wanted to get Continental ExtremeContact DW tires but they weren't in stock. There weren't a lot of summer tires in stock (I guess because it is winter in the rest of the country...) so I got Hankook Evo V12's. They were like $900 for 4 and they are very good in wet weather and maybe slightly better in dry weather compared to the Continental ContiSport 3 SSR's.

Are the two sets of staggered tires on wheels of different width?

It seems BMW decided to go with all-season tires vs summer only, and there doesn't seem to be a 275 option available that fits the bill; hence they went with 245's all around.

Yeah... the front are 245-45 (245mm wide, 45% aspect ratio) and the rear tires are 275-45.

I understand that the tires are different widths. I am asking about the wheel widths.

Ohh! Sorry yeah... the fronts are 8.5" and the rears 9.5". The fronts are $522 a piece I know. I'm not sure how much the rears are.

That's good mileage! I'm surprised the fronts went before the rears - means you need set Sport on DHP and to push harder out of corners!

Had the same experience. Thought something was wrong with the front suspension, but it seems to be typical.

2011 models offered a performance tire option for the 309s. The summer performance tires were ContiSportContact SSR Pro's, and the tire specs were F245/45-19 R275/40-19. The all seasons were Goodyear Eagle LS2's, and they were not staggered. Now for 2012, the 309s are standard with the Sports Activity Package on the 35i and are only available with the all-season setup. This is for the US only as far as I know.

Did any of you get 275s all around from the factory?? My '11 x335i came with them, but they are currently building me a new one under the lemon law because of its power steering failure...I am getting all of the same packages I did on the first one(every package excpet for Msport) so I hope I get it 275s again
