I don't think the 2011 comes with roof racks standard or with any package, at least not in Canada. There looks to be some cladding on the roof that might look like roof racks but the satin aluminum roof racks are a standalone option (the number is 3AT), at least in Canada. I expect the satin aluminum roof racks will be as functional as the black roof racks on the pre-2011 models.

See http://www.buybmws.com/2011%20X3%20Canada.pdf page 2 for the satin aluminum roof rails. In Canada, this is a standalone option (3AT). It is not even included in X-Line. I don't know about the USA.
Sorry, I don't know what is available for accessories. I just know that we initially ordered ours expecting to get the roof rails only to learn that we didn't. We now need to augment our original order. Luckily, our build date hasn't come up yet. Last edited by darskiczd; 11-27-2010 at 12:19 PM.. |

Love to see the installation. It should be interesting to see how close the cross bars are to the roof since the X3 roof rails are so low.

Spitfire is correct, $150 option for the roof rails. I forked out an additional $350 for the cross rails (for my kayak & cottage).

Yes they are locking but one that I tried to move more toward the back would not relock so they took it back and ordered another. Said it must be defective.
