Anyone have an elegant phone mount solution?
I have been trying to find the ideal phone (iPhone 6+ for me) mount solution for the X3/X4.
I'm not a fan of the cup holder versions as they take up a cupholder (duh) and they tend to be wobbly. The ideal solution would be something off to the side of the center console. I was looking at the flat area in front of the iDrive controller and thought that might make a decent mounting surface using 3M sticky material. But I don't think it would be able to handle constant use. ProClip makes some great solutions but nothing specifically X3/4--any thoughts? : |

Have you looked here:
http://www.brodit.com/product.html?i...l=X3&year=2015 Products for both X3 and X4 are available ...I have the above holder in X3/2015. That product is the base for your car and then you need the actual holder specific to your phone/device, here for iPhone 6+: http://www.brodit.com/productList.ht...6+Plus&pn=prod |

They have an A pillar mount, a center dash left vent mount, and a right vent one. |

Hey guys,
Thanks for the responses. @chx437: Those solutions aren't the custom versions....they just block the vents, buttons and part of the car's nav screen. Not very elegant. @Lotus99: I saw all the mounts ProClip offers...their vent mounts are universal mounts, not the custom ones designed specifically for a particular vehicle. I have a great vent mount right now, but I hate how it doesn't seat firmly due to design of my dash, and the fact it covers a vent and some of my nav screen; things I was hoping to avoid with my upcoming X4. All that having been said, it looks like Kuda has the bestsolution. These are designed for the X3, but should work with the X4: http://www.kudausa.com/bmw-x3-f25-si...ack-a1613.html |

But the most elegant holder is the holder which can be hidden totally: BMW snap-in-adapter by which you can control your phone and other communication operations integrated with iDrive. |

Covering my passenger vent Hardly bothers me, as I'm driving my car 90%+ of the time without a passenger, and even then, it's not really blocking the air vent. It's a few inches away from it, and I still have full adjustability of the vent louvers, and air comes out directed where you want no problem. |

Certainly will block a vent but so easy to use and so portable, I find it very "elegant". I have three, one in each vehicle. Not perfect, but for $25-30 on Amazon, it works for me.

But that's the one I have right now. Love it but my phone still blocks vent and screen. But for anyone that doesn't mind that, the Kenu is a great product. |

i have swapped this mount from my past three vehicles.
http://www.arkon.com/product/SM488L2...rail-bolt.html i mount it to the front bolt holding under the passenger seat, flex it so it is just above the i-controler knob. i have an otter box defender case on my 6Plus, which is a tight but secure fit. |

Doesn't move at all and is solid with the phone in it, unlike the Kenu, and it's one handed to put the phone in, whereas with the Kenu you need to spread open the grip first with one hand and put the phone in with the other. |

Personally, I like the BMW snap-in mount in the console.
The only problem is that I keep forgetting to pull the phone out when I leave!! I have Pro-clips in my Saabs, and since they are in my sightline, don't forget them. It's hell getting old and senile. |

Haha! Thanks for the reply. I tend to use my phone's screen for music and other things...so while the BMW solution is tempting I think it being hidden wouldn't work out. I'll probably go for something like ProClips--thanks again!

I Did this to my iphone snap in adapter. I had a iphone 5 adapter, and ordered a dummy iphone 5, lightning cable extension cable and modded it to snap into the adapter and connect it to my iphone 6+.

Why do you need a phone mount solution in an X3 or X4?
I have my phone in my pocket or in my coat. My wife has it in her purse. The car has handsfree as standard feature, and will recognise your phone (even outside the car). So why make the dashboard so ugly with your phone? You can dial numbers over the big knob/button (i drive) in the car, and you get all your contacts on the screen of the car. What am I missing here?

I'd prefer not to have it on the dash cluttering things up--which is why I was asking for an "elegant solution". |

Check the BMW Click & Drive kit, nice if you can have it around the dashboard instead of the windscreen. http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/acc...er/finder.html

I just mount my phone on the windshield since it's used as GPS 99% of the time. The phone is always paired via BT so I can take any incoming calls.
