I have these tires on my 2013 35i and like them too. MUCH better than the original Goodyear run flats. I also carry a ContiComfortKit combo tire compressor and sealer (slime). My tire shop is happy to take care of RFs with slime...they sold me the kit and they can clean the TPM sensors (BMW dealer won't repair RFs). The kit fits great under the trunk cover.

I'm doing research now to purchase a set of tires. I've had two mechanics tell me that the Perelli P7 was the tire to go with and a third tell me that the Michelin (can't remember model) was the tire. I have to spend the money, so I'm looking for something has a comfortable ride, but offers the miles. I drive over 20k a year.

Also, if I choose an third-party distributor, does that negate my warranty in any way? TireRack has great prices. Far surpasses BMW.

2 weeks ago I changed my summer tyres from Pirelli P zero RFT, to Pirelli P zero rosso non rft's. The ride quality has vastly improved, road noise has decreased. I carry a puncture plug kit, slime kit and air compressor.
When I do a long business trip, a winter wheel (running rft's)is put in the cargo area,as i'traveling alone and have room to carry it.
Would I go back to summer rft's? No, they ruin the ride !!!!!

I've done extensive tire research for the X3. Here's my analysis:

1 - Ditch the RFT and get the Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus - no RFT $215 each delivered from the Tire Rack.

2 - Get the BMW patch kit - compressor & green slime

3 - Get a temp spare from Bav Auto. About $ 360ish and get the accompanying bag. You can secure it to the hooks in the rails in the back. The WeatherTech cargo mat is good, has cut outs for the rail hooks to secure it.

4 - For Long Term road trips, get a spare wheel from www.hubcapheaven.com and a spare tire from the Tire Rack.

Tires are great! Handling is superb, ride is comfortable, tires are quiet.

Vast improvement from Goodyear RFT that came on the X3

For those that still want to keep runflats, I just installed Michelin Primacy MXM4 ZP 102V 245/45 R19 as replacements for the all-season Goodyears my 2015 X3 came with @ 28k miles.

Still a little slick with preservative.... however, I could not get tail slide in an empty supermarket lot covered in an inch of icy slush, but did manage to get some slip going up a steep grade from standing still start in the same conditions.

They seem to be highly superior to the OEM tires in wet/slush. No idea about dry or what they will be like when worn in.

My dealership had to order them, matched tirerack and they arrived and were fitted next day.

I just replaced our Pirelli Sotozero II's with Toyo Ultra Z900's. I had half my cost covered due to construction debris taking out one of my Pirelli's.

So far so good with the Toyo's.

tires 2015 X3

I replace my run flats with non run flats and never looked back.

I live in MA and I went with winters and summers. I kept the stock 18 inch wheels and got a set of Nokian Haka's 8 for the winter.
A set of staggered M sport rims with a set of Potenza S-04 for the summer.

I usually swap back and forth around thanksgiving and Easter.

Car has no issues winter and summer.

If someone prefers one set of tires/rims I would go with a set of Nokian WRG3's all weather all year round.

I have been using Nokians for years and I am firm believer they know their tires.

Regards

I know that the S-04 has a lot thread life, are you replacing them annually?

RFT are the worst. Went with a DC compressor and tire repair kit, plus a few tools to remove nails/screws etc... Have staggered 20" rims. In the South, we have a great deal of rain so went with BF Goodrich Comp G-Force A/S. Awesome grip in wet or dry, very sticky. And of course got road hazard as well. 1-2 mpg worse on mileage but unbelievable grip, stopping and cornering.

I have run flats on my '14 x3 28i and they are just fine, no problems, great performance, no noise. I have Pirelli Cinturato P7 100v on 18s. They are a good tire. I keep an extra tire at home. We have patched them twice though.

I purchased 4 MICHELIN PRIMACY MXM4 ZP STAR BMW, RUN FLAT XL all season tires (245/45R-19) from Tire Rack last year.

They came with FREE road hazard protection.

The tires are great......and the BEST part is if you ever get a nail or punctured tire, TIRE RACK will replace it (same brand/type) for FREE!!!!!

RFT the worst

RFT are the worst. Get a small compressor, patch kit and a few tools to extract anything in the tire. I have 20" wheels staggered and just went with BF Goodrich G-Force Comp A/S. Rains allot in the south and needed the grip/traction. Amazing tires. Increased handling, cornering and stopping distance has been reduced.

I went with Continental Extremecontact DW and they have done wonders to the ride compared with the ROF Pirelli P ZERO. 310M wheels.

Looking to cause tyres soon.
Now I am wearing continentals but the wear was horrible.
I was suggested by the Bmw dealer to go do pirelli p7, and avoid conti and Michelin beacause x3 35i is very strong and "eats" tyres...
I am thinking for cinturato p7 all weather at 18 alloys for 800 usd.
Any ideas?

To Mind and several others

Same "need to replace RFT tire" sit as several others. Much to my surprise Discount and BWM which put Bridgestone RE960AS RF 245/45R-19 95W on the X3 w/ M Sport package say I need to go to "spec" 102V. Love the performance of the RE906s but really do not need UHP tires even though it can be fun/scary. But then really tired of RFT tread wear and having to replace tires every 25k miles.

So torn between MICHELIN PRIMACY MXM4 ZP STAR BMW, (RUN FLAT XL) or going w/ NON RFT w/ either Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus or MICHELIN PRIMACY MXM4 and with a Conti ComfortKit as backup and yes I know both are not 102V.

Why is 102V to 98W such a no no?

Thoughts?

Go with Pirelli PZero All season plus with the new rubber compound. Non RF. Then get either a temp spare or a full size spare with a rim from Hubcab Heaven for long trips.

Cost for the PZero are $220 delivered from the Tire Rack. Great tire, btw.

I am not ready to replace the OEM GY RFs on my X3, however, I know from driving on a set of conventional winter tires/wheels, that I will not get RF replacements. Aside from the RF's poor ride, the difference in weight between RF's and conventional tires is significant. While not a apples-to-apples comparison, the winter tire on a 17" wheel is 12 lbs lighter than OEM RF on 18" wheel. Without a spare, one still need a slime/pump kit and conventional tires are much cheaper. In summary, do RF's have a single offsetting benefit?

When the time comes i plan to replace the RFTs with Hankook V12s. Being in Los Angeles I don't have an issue using summer tires year round and i've pretty much been using Hankook V12 on all of my road cars.

For normal every day driving i don't see any difference between the Hankooks and the much pricier Michelins or Pirellis

Been an interesting two days.

3 years ago Tirerack & Discount recommended the Bridgestone RE960AS 98W. Went w/ Discount as have always used them. Last July BMW replaced 2 of them due their screw up during a service. As I wrote I now need the other two replaced as worn. Discount will not put the same on X3 now, say I have to go w/ 102V or higher.

BMW says X3 came w/ 102V LS2 and I can confirm those are what the Bridgestone's replaced and that replacements need to be 102V. Tire placard says XL

Tirerack is pushing the 98W saying they are spec that came on X3 but all are SL not XL. Called the local installer that was recommended and they said they would not install the the 98W as X3 required 102V, which came as a shock.

I called Discount late today to order 4 new tires and was surprised to hear that they will replace all 4 w/ 102Vs either MICHELIN PRIMACY MXM4 ZP STAR BMW 102V (or the Pirelli P7) and I only have to pay for the two I was first going to get.

Gotta love their standing up and making this right.

Pretty po'ed by the whole thing and have decided against non RFT for the near term as the Discount offer is too good to pass up, for now. If I own the X3 when the tire wear down again I'll reconsider them.
