Some quite good news coming through on this thread for once! Waiting times down to 7 months for some people. I wonder when they'll drop back to down to 3-4 months....

Went to pick up and sign the new order for the 3.0d on Saturday and it has slipped a week to wk38, but not an issue. Apparently when they placed the new order they made a pull forward request and even they were a little stunned when it moved to week 37...

From what I was told the 35d is available from wk40 in the UK

Sadly not. I made a joke about seeing the press release for the 35d and my sales guy told me it will be available from wk 40.

Emailed the dealer last week about any updates, and he says that it's now January instead of March
Asked about the price for the 35d engine instead of the 3.0d, and it'll be 2250GBP to change, with no time penalty.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm, what do you think i should do?

3.0d old price was 39.625 with M Sport
3.0d new price is 39.975 with M Sport
3.5d new price is 42.225 with M Sport

I think the difference is 2600 GBP for a change

Really hard to say what you should do. If you use the extra power and torque your mpg will take a hit but that may not trouble you as you'll be having more fun but long term will you notice the torque is 12.5% higher than the 3.0D?

I don't have the option to swap as my 3.0D should be on a boat already. You have to call a halt somewhere, what happens if they bring out a 4.0D? Where you call the halt is hard to decide. From my perspective I've not driven a 3.0D yet so deciding on a 3.5D would be a total shot in the dark.....much as the 3.0D is!

One other factor I took into account (bear in mind I'm persuading myself I don't want a 3.5D)....my 335i is frankly too fast when driven WOT for many of the roads I drive on, a 3.5D whilst similar performance 0 - 62 will drive very differently with all that torque but ultimately an X3 won't handle as well as my 335i, no matter how good it is for an SUV. So in my mind the extra performance of a 3.5D would be wasted on me.

clivem2,

would be great to get an understanding from you how the X3 30d compares to your E93 335? Autocar said recently, the engine was more noisey in the X3 compared to the 5 series. I hope is not too bad as I'm probably going to go for the X3 30d myself at some stage.

I can't say yet, it's supposed to be another 6 weeks before it arrives. On the youtube from carbuyer.co.uk 3.0D review it sounds noisy at idle from the outside. I tried a 2.0D, I didn't notice any diesel rattle from the inside but that doesn't help with your question.....

I'm waiting to find out how the engine feels too in terms of performance! I could test drive one now but I thought I might as well wait until mine arrives.

My dealer has just advised me that my CB 30d MSport is in transit and due with them end August/early September and I should hopefully get the keys a couple of weeks later, once the lease company and deealer do the necessary with it.

The car was ordered in March and I was originally quoted mid-December so it does like UK order times are moving in the right direction!

The problem of waiting times are for 20d, 30d's are arriving on time and ahead of schedule.

Had our 1 series MOT'd today and while I was waiting my sales guy popped over to tell me our 3.0d had come forward two weeks and is now a week 36 build.

Price increase

I altered my spec and the new contract came through with an extra £300 on the list. They sent another one through with the spec update and at the original list price. The list has gone up on all orders after 1st August.
