Not surprising BMW have done this. It is really in response to Audi Australia releasing the slightly tweaked 2013 Q5 a month or two ago so with more standard features.

Last week I compared the price of "my" x3 with the equivalent in France, and the price was /massively/ more expensive on the continent. It seems BMW has to adapt to the local market, and the more competition, the more 'goodies' they have to throw in..

Yikes! Check out those prices! $73kAUD!?....Our dollar is almost on par with the Australian dollar (ish)....but still this vehicle is nearly $20k more. And I thought Canadians had it bad. Geez, import taxes etc must be brutal.

Welcome to our world. Its an on-going bone of contention here with pretty much all imported vehicles although its not as bad as it appears. Taxes aren't all to blame. We do have a 33% Luxury Car Tax (which cuts in at either AU$57k or AU$75k depending on the cars fuel efficiency), 5% import duty (although ironically the F25 X3 is exempt from this 5% import duty because it is built in the US which has a Free Trade Agreement with Australia - also applies to the X5 and X6), plus various State Goverment charges.

However the biggest part of this extra cost comes from either the fact that Aussie-spec cars usually are better equiped as standard compared with those in other markets, plus the Australian car market operates with larger profit margins for imported European cars in a particular. The larger profit margin (per unit car) is driven by the much smaller overall market compared with the US and Europe.

Can Someone share whats the difference between the new LCI vs pre-lci for a 30d? the used market seems to be low in demand so I'm assuming that the car is too good or I guess not many people are comings of their leases yet.

I know that the my13 comes with paddle shifter and that's a big plus for me coming from a 335i with M3 steering.

Can anyone confirm when did the paddle shifter start for the x3? Dealers told me that those with M-sport only comes with Paddles but from what I've seen on Carsales is that only those that ar my12.5 or newer have them? X3 are still expensive in the used car market. I guess those that have bought when it first launch are starting to come off their lease. Possible that when the LCI comes out there will be alot more people willing to upgrade ?

Can someone clarify that?
