barely optioned 3.5i showed up in record time?

ordered on 6/21 and got the production order number the next day. picked up today in CT on 7/9. so ~2 1/2 weeks.

3.5i
deep sea blue metallic
black leatherette
brushed aluminum trim
sports package
heated front seats + steering wheel
309 wheels w/ mixed performance tires
BMW Assist (forced because of shortage or whatever)

loving the car so far! the car has so many settings, even with not that many options. need to do a bit more reading, as i thought because i didnt get DHP, i couldnt change the chassis settings for sport mode (in idrive, it lets me select chassis and drivetrain).

Congrats! That was FAST Yep, on the 35i if you get the sport package you get to change from normal to sport to sport + through I-drive. You'll feel a change in the steering as well as the suspension. Post some pics of your new ride!

You mentioned that you did not opt for the Dynamic Handling Package, in one of the picture you took (pic above) there's the sport and normal button next to the gear shifter, I thought that only come with the car when you order the Dynamic Handling Package? Or does it come with the car when you just order the Sport Activity package without the Dynamic Handling Package?

Thanks!

From what I have read in other threads here, I believe the selector is there on the 35i when you order the sports activity package.

Thanks 509trooper! I ordered the 35i include the Sport Activity Package and wasn't sure if I should opt for the DHP because I don't like the variable sport steering function but do like the normal, sport selector there and I asked the dealer and they're not sure either...

Thanks again for cleared out my question!

I should be taking delivery of my vehicle in the next week. I'll post pictures when I get it, and I'll include a pic of the console.

FWIW, there are differing opinions on whether the Sport setting for a 35i equipped with Sport Activity Package but without DHP does the exact same thing as on a 35i equipped with both Sport Activity and DHP. The issue is whether the former makes any changes to the suspension, and there are strong feelings both ways.

is there a sure fire way to prove this one way or another? some part that exists if there is DHP, and not if there isnt?

i'm surprised this hasnt been solved even though the x3 has been around for the a few months already.

Best way would be for BMW to publish an explicit explanation. Closest I've seen is in this forum where a member posted what is claimed to be an email response from someone at BMW NA saying no adjustments are made to the suspension without DHP.

Seems like an easy way to get the answer would be to look at the suspension of a base 35i, one with SAP but not DHP, and one with both SAP and DHP. I've seen a picture posted of the case for both SAP and DHP.

If adjustments are being made to the suspension of a mass produced vehicle available for sale to the general public, and it doesn't have air springs, then the only way I can think that is done is via adjustable dampers. A photo should reveal whether that is the case.
