My dogs ride in the back seat and are trashing the doors with dirty paws and sharp nails. I have a seat cover but it doesn't cover the doors. I have read about door protectors but it sounds like there isn't a good solution on the market. My research has shown that they either don't stay in place or that they will scratch the tinting on the window.

Has anybody found a good solution?

In most of Europe - at least Sweden - you are supposed to have a cage for your dog - primarily for his safety. The cages are secured with straps or safety belt.

I do not know about a pick-up, my son and family only have a 4x4 and a hatchback with dog guards in the rear.

Out in the country in Texas, Arizona and Nevada it is standard issue to have a dog in rear and a shotgun hanging in the rear window in pick-ups. I don`t think that should go well with the police in the British Isles.

Seats are for people! I couldn't handle my dog messing up the inside of my car.

My GSD is only allowed in the trunk, as I don't want her hair all over the car, or any dirt. I've got a great custom cover I bought from the UK (was 50 pounds on Ebay)

I used the mat from these guys in my previous car, my 535 wagon, and loved it. They're great people to work with, and it's a custom fit. They offer different configurations, from something that just covers the cargo area, to one that allows the rear split seats to be folded and still cover the back of them, to one that goes right up to the back of the front seats if you tend to leave your back seats down.

Too bad BMW doesn't make a custom seat cover for the X3. The one for the E92 was awesome! The seat cover I have used so far either slide around too much or don't cover the sides.

BMW did offer one for the F25 in 2011 with both the seat and door protection.

Normally people in Italy, Spain and France will cheat, while people in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Finland and Sweden will comply.

Ditto from me - The Travall dog guard is a very well made piece of kit - fits perfectly - I got the central divider as well which splits the boot area for dog and luggage etc.. My GSD loves it!

I will look at the covers you got in the UK, because I have a lot of hairs in the back now.

I have the Travall dog guard for the rear with a nice big bed in there for him.
He lies down and chills out when in there, on the back seat he is constantly moving around, can't relax at all.

He is also 40kilos so much safer for other in the car for him to be in the rear, he would do some serious damage if he came flying into the front.
