Ordering my X3 today!!

After almost ordering a 2012 Volvo S60.....I got a chance to drive an X3 at my local dealership when they were having that BMW Competition Drive where you test out not only the X3, but the GLK, Q5 and RX. I fell in love with BMW all over again after I drove it and today I'm putting down the $500 and ordering the following:

xDrive 28i
Jet Black
Black Leatherette
Sport Activity Package
Xenon
Panoramic Sunroof

Is this a good choice?

Since I live 4 hours away I'm considering renting a car and doing the performance delivery experience. The car will be ready in 4 weeks. I drive an IS250 right now so I couldnt be more thrilled to get back in a BMW after a 4 year hiatus.

I would deffinately take the usb connection too, this is not expensive and worth every penny!
More expensive but a must have in BMW is the sport seats, they are of exeptional good quality while the standard seats are really bad.

Ok I'll add the USB......thanks for the heads-up. The dealer told me it was standard so I thought it was just included.

And doesn't the Sport Activity Package come with the seats?

The USB iPod Interface is standard now. Same goes for hands-free calling.

I'd STRONGLY recommend getting the Dynamic Handling Package. It makes all the difference in the world.

Doing the PCD is definitely something you should consider. GREAT experience. As for the build, there are options out there that are good for one, and not worth it for another. If you are happy with it, thats all that matters. Without knowing your tastes, its hard to say what might be worth it to you. For instance, the upgraded stereo. I chose this, and absolutely LOVE it. you might not have any interest. Lumbar I also chose, but if you never go on long drives it might not be of interest to you. Convenience options like comfort access entry, the ambiance lighting package, and heated seats are all things I really wanted after seeing the demo.

I STRONGLY recommend adding the power rear door option - I didn't get it and am sorry about that. It is really heavy and my wife can barely close it by herself.

Also, the lumbar would be a good add.

Congrats. You will love the X3 compared to the IS250. My wife just traded her IS for a new X3 and it is just as comfortable (except for the leather), yet way more fun and practical at the same time. Only problem is that now I want to get one...

I would also second doing PCD. It was a blast from start to finish.

I'm also playing the waiting game too Cactus! I'm curious as to when you think you'll be able to recieve your X3, Seattle has me waiting until late April, early May.

Ah I see Cactus, I'm jealous of some others on here with one month from the time they order to delivery.

[QUOTE=flash3;9034525]So what were the final specs on your car once you ordered it?[/QUOTE

I ordered it two days ago with the following:

Xdrive28i
Jet black/black leatherette
Panoramic sunroof
Sport activity package
Xenon
Xline

And since I live in Alabama it will be done by the end of March they said, early April at the latest. Why are some orders taking longer, distance perhaps?

I'm so excited...I'll probably be one of the first in town with one!

The closer you are to Spartanburg the better for the chances. Sometimes dealerships have priorities too. Mine could be done in just a couple weeks whilst others will take a month and a half.

Vehicle Preparation Center for the left coast folks is in Oxnard. While I'm sure the delivery to Oxnard is via rail, I'm not sure if they go via rail up north or if they're trucked.
VPC date for me is March 10th. No date for arrival at the dealer, yet.

Just ordered my X3 28i on Friday. Dealer told me that I will take delivery between March 25-April 25. I'm on the East coast technically so I wonder if that speeds things up? This time frame seems really quick.

I ordered mine this past Tuesday from a dealership in Birmingham, Alabama. To my shock, the car has already gone into production within 5 days. I was on my dealers most recent allocation and it is a high volume dealer.

There is only one BMW dealership for all the Buffalo area, and they said for being a smaller dealership, they still do a lot of volume. They placed my order on the first day of their March allocation, which was Friday so I'm hoping the process goes rather quickly. Keep me updated with your progress and I will do the same.
