Sports Package Question for the USA

I am leaning towards ordering the Sports Activity Package but simply don't like the satin roof rails.

Is it possible to either have them do a delete OR take them off yourself?

Not a huge deal breaker at all, but just curious if it is possible to take them off after delivery.

I was told by my dealer, that the roof rails are very much integrated with the body in new X3 due to the design, hence he mentioned adding or removing a roof rail once the X3 is built is going to be costly due to the labor involved (just to give me a clue he mentioned it might be 2 to 3 times the cost of the actual roof rails itself). So I would suggest you to give instructions to remove the roof rails alone, when you add the package itself. I have seen in other thread where a member removed the xline while he had the package which had it. Hope this helps.

Why wait til after delivery? You should talk to your CA and tell him you dont want them. If the car isnt built yet, shouldnt be an issue.

I was gonna order it separate (roof rails) since I was not adding the conv pkg, but now I am thinking of adding the Sports and Conv only and it comes with the sports pkg.

I had the same question a was told explicitly by my dealer (who checked w/ the Factory) that you cannot delete X-Line and the Chrome roof rails from the Sport Package.

I inquired as to whether I could substitute the roof rails/trim from the M-Sport package (which are black) and was told no as well.

Big disappointment. I am hoping I'll be able to order the M-Sport rails at a later date (at what is likely to be a significant expense).

Wait for M Sport and they will be black, along with the Shadowline trim and anthracite headliner.

Really, it is worth the wait and I will be waiting for that for sure. And a diesel...
