There has been some media attention lately to the growing TAKATA airbag recall, where airbags could change their chemistry, and cause rupture sending shrapnel towards the driver if deployed. American X3s are already on the recall list. It appears Australian X3s are not yet, but here is a photo of the back of my year 2008 Australian X3 driver's airbag. It shows that my X3 has a TAKATA airbag too:
