nope only the early N54's had problems with HFPFs. X3's use the N55 motor different motor = different problems (nothing major with the N55 that I am aware of)

Just under 15k miles and no problems. (Although it scares me to write that then I get all twisted up in LedZep's signature . . . )

I am new to BMW as well and planning on buying new 35i and salesman mentioned to me that x3 35i has a different engine from 335i and turbo is different as well. Not sure how true this info is.

Engine is the same, tune is different on current 2011+ X3's and 335i's but different from 2007-2010 335i's. Current 335i's and X3's have a twin power turbo inline 6 (N55 engine) and the older 335i's (up to 2010) had the N54 which is a TWIN turbo engine. Both put out 300/300 but the power comes faster on a N55 engine.
