Required technology package

I ordered my x3 in end of may and was told by my CA that I might need to add the technology package to my car. Se called me today saying that cars that are delivered within may is still okay, however any car past may and ordered as if today needs to have the technology package for sure due to the Japan earthquake.

Just wanted to let u guys all know.

It's the nav that's required, not the tech package. At least that's what I have been told.

i wonder if bmw is using this excuse to make you buy something you don't need

I was forced to order Nav when I placed my order on April 18th for a May build slot. If I didn't they showed me a memo saying it could be at least August before they could produce the vehicle and that is just a guess on their part. Could be longer they said.

Nav is included in the Technology Package here in Canada.....

In the US you can order it seperately or as part of the Tech package.

Well, originally my order was automatically with the tech package, however my CA told me that she and her manager "amended" the order to see if it would go through without the technology/nav and it worked.

My dealer has the task to call all of his client to bear the good news : you must buy the nav package or your car will be delayed (for may production).

He also told me that all honda/toyota dealers will receive only 20% of their scheduled cars, for the next few months. (that's for MTL shouth shore and would need to be confirmed).

(BTW, there are a few goodies that US market can order as we, in canada, have to buy the whole package. An example would be Sirius radio, which is hidden in the executive package, which has to be combined with the premium package. total with tax= 6700$ to get the satellite radio

PS Sirius radio can be installed at the dealer afterwards (Around $500) if that's the only reason for getting executive package
