Rear Jacking Point Question
I was wondering if someone could tell me if it is ok to lift the rear of the X3 from the cross member, like this? Or should I lift from the Diff? I need to replace the rear springs (one is broken).
Thanks |

The cross member is tempting but the factory jacking instructions are pretty explicit about jacking on the differential using rubber jack pad. the cross member was not designed to support the weight of the vehicle. This applies to nearly all BMW's. A 11/2 inch length of 1 inch square steel tubing fits into the jack mounts for placing jack stands. I use them all the time. great if you want to have 4 wheels off the ground.
